Freaks N Geeks Help Raise Money For Homeless Animals
The West Asheville shop is holding a month-long “Tattoos for Life” fundraiser to benefit Asheville Humane Society. The fundraiser will be held June 1-30 at the shop, located at 745 Haywood Rd.
The “Tattoos for Life” benefit is made up of two elements. Patrons may stop by the shop between noon and 8 p.m. every day of the week to purchase raffle tickets. Tickets will be on sale for $5 each or three for $10. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn on July 1 and the winner will receive one free pet or animal tattoo of their choice worth up to $500. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit Asheville Humane Society.
The second part of the campaign will focus on the tangible needs of the Humane Society. Animal-lovers are asked to donate canned dog and cat food, dog treats, cat litter, leashes, bleach and blankets. For a complete list of needs, click on www.ashevillehumane.org/donate/donate-goods. Each donor will receive a $10 coupon toward a tattoo from one of the experienced artists at Freaks-n-Geeks.
“Tattoos for Life” is the brainchild of Freaks-n-Geeks co-owner Tiffany Leach. Prior to her career as a tattooist, Leach was a veterinary technician. She’s a lifelong animal lover and a 20-year vegetarian.
"This fundraiser brings together two of my passions: animals and tattoos," Leach said. "And I love that Freaks-n-Geeks and our clients will be helping the Asheville Humane Society continue to do their good work."
For more information, to make a donation or to schedule a tattoo appointment, call Freaks-n-Geeks Tattoo Sideshow at 828/254-4429 or email tiffany@freaks-n-geeks.com.
Social commentator and financial whiz, Ben Stein has some advice on how we can all get through the recession. Enjoy!
Some cool kids at UNCA made a PSA to help us promote adoptions! Watch it - NOW! ;)
A few days ago, we transported some adorable puppies to the northeast to find their forever homes. Before they embarked on their 9 hour journey, John Fletcher of Asheville Citizen Times snapped some fun photos of our staff with the pups. An animal-loving volunteer made some funny captions for the photo... enjoy!
Halloween Dog Festival: Saturday, October 25, 2008
Downtown Asheville
More than 100 canine cuties represented the canine species at this year's Halloween Dog Festival in downtown Asheville. We had a blast checking out all the fun costumes. Start working on your pooch's costume for next year. Check out the photos and get inspired by some of this year's terrific entrants. (Give 'em a few seconds to load - to speed up the show, adjust the toggle bar on the far right)

Beauty is a thing seldom seen No one sees it because no one looks Or at least not in the right place Beauty is held by all Within the soul it lies Waiting to come out to the surface Only it can't Beauty is suppressed by the evils of the world Only love can bring beauty out Once seen Beauty never hides again Not even hatred can deny beauty Of it's true design Beauty although possessed by all Will only ever be truly seen by few And fewer yet will never see One of the most beautiful sights The beauty held by you.
Tell us about it! Saturday is going to be absolutely wonderful, and we are bursting with excitement!! Thanks you so much for all of your hard work. xoxo-Bootstraps Burlesque
