More L.A. photos coming soon, but here's a sneak peek:
Saturated in the city for a couple years now, Ashley 1st is quickly carving a name for herself after the release of SONY BMG's "Christmas Classics: Yesterday , Today & Forever" album, on which she lends her own saucy twist of "Santa Baby" to the company of DESTINY'S CHILD, CHRISTINA AGUILERA, and JESSICA SIMPSON to name a few, to the NATIONAL FMQB CHART climbing SUCCESS of her single "You're Just So Good" from her debut album: Lovin' Every Minute (iTunes, cdbaby.com).
"Ashley 1st ROCKS with a sound all of her own!!" - Kevin Wyatt (Bass Player; Lenny Kravitz)
...which may be why her single "You're Just So Good" soared to 13 on the FMQB Charts. With a sound that cross Alicia Keys over a Rolling Stones ride, it's no wonder the Ashley 1st Band and her original songs pack a punch. (The team of All-Stars she rolls with could start a fire in a hurricane: Bass- Gary Pickard, Drums- Benjamin Woodbury, Guitar- Sergio Ortega, Saxophone-Michael Seropyan, and Keys- Dominic Fallacaro.)
"If music undresses the soul, then our show is basically the striptease of emotions you peel off in the course of any love carousel. Wanting to shout after a first kiss, or die after a break up, is not felt so much as they are heard by the station that turns on in my head. I write songs as they happen to me, or as life hands them to me."
The influences for Lovin' Every Minute come from a myriad of artists: "My sister and I were home-grown on dad’s vinyls of The Who, Beatles, Stones, and Bowie." Add a hint of mom's Eydie Gorme with Ashley's penchant for Stevie Wonder and this band has managed to create a sound hard to slap with a one word label. "I think this album is a cocktail of pop rock songs infused with jazz over a retro vibe." When splashed from the stage, this cocktail is an element that's a couple atoms over a crazy and a nuclear bomb of good times.
Summing it up, A.1st adds, "My hope is that my songs allow people to either relish or cry in the glory that is love. It's the only thing that equalizes all of us."
Hey Ashley! LA looks like it was a success! Red carpet, paparazzi & interviews cool stuff. Congratulations on everything. Look forward to seeing you here in NYC. Peace & Love, Sean
How was the show?! I'm sorry, I've been slapped with a presentation which I'm gonna give today, not to mention a slew of other things, so I couldn't get away. But I'm sure that it rocked!
Wowzers, Ashley! Two major LA clubs...! By the way, you might like Carsie Blanton, another singer who I recently interviewed for Conversations, Etc. That makes it two curly haired song wielders on my site! Ashley & Carsie! conversationsetc. blogspot. com . Enjoy the road ahead. And keep putting up live versions of your songs!
Thanks so much for checking my music out. Hope you like what you hear.
Please come back for another listen when you get a chance. I have a busy summer ahead with my new album 'Tell It Like It Is' coming out in July, as well as a limited edition single release on vinyl of Jackson Avenue in June.
