Texas has produced many a country and rock music legend, from Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Tanya Tucker to Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Selena Quintanilla, and ZZ Top among others. That rich country/rock history has continued into the Millennium, producing some of the country’s hottest up and coming acts to eventually hit the national scene, and Grapevine, TX local singer/songwriter Ashley Austin is no exception. Since winning the ‘Most Promising Teen Vocalist’ Title in 2006 at the World Showcase in Las Vegas, Ashley has been on a roll toward the big time, so much so that the Dallas Morning News reported that “Poor David's Pub Owner David Card's ear has been honed by nearly 30 years of live music at his club, so when he says that Ashley Austin is ‘one of them young up-and-comers’ and that you should ‘catch her before she hits the big time,’ he's probably on to something.”
Singing new country, pop, and classic rock in her live show, and boasting a pallet of derivative influences that include Sugarland, Gretchen Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Katy Perry, K.T. Tunstall, and Pat Benetar, Ashley Austin, according to Pegasus News, “is destined to become a major player in Southern Country/Rock Music. If you have not seen this (artist)…treat yourself to an evening of high energy entertainment & vocals that are unforgettable.” In commenting on what drives her passion for music, past professional ambitions, Ashley shares with fans that “singing has always been a part of my life, and will continue to be. I love to share my music with an audience and feed off of their energy. It's an amazing feeling to see people having a good time and knowing that you are part of it. I love my fans and appreciate all their support!”
In addition to her music fans, a growing chorus of critical praise has blessed Ashley lately, including Gigmasters.com’s hailing of her “passionate style of bluesy country meets southern rock brought together by rich powerful vocals and soulful deliverance.” Additionally, she has received press coverage on such popular e-music news sites as www.culturemob.com, www.countrylegends921.com, www.bandmix.com, femaleentertainers.blogspot.com, and www.toppix.com. Thanks for thinking about me, Ashley. I just saw my doctor Monday morning, and, after over a month, the cat bite infection is finally getting better. It's not completely gone, but, at least, the doctor's not talking about hospitals and IV anti-biotics, anymore. Say hi to your mom for me. Tony Kinsel
