Featuring styles ranging from latin, to reggae, to pop, to folk-rock, to funk, all the way to a Beach Boys send-up, Ashley Newall’s new “LIVE” EP covers a ton of musical terrain. John Lennon fans will enjoy the soaring ballads, Barenaked Ladies fans will enjoy the comedic ditties, and dance fans will enjoy the laid back/deep-cut grooves.
The Ashley Newall Band features Brian Simms (Tara Holloway, Sarah Hallman), Jack MacGregor (Fleshpaint), Neil Gerster (Melissa Laveaux, Urban Aesthetics) & Adam Fogo (Wax Mannequin, Gammahoochie) & was formed in Ottawa in 1998. Ashley has played high profile shows all over Ontario, including at Barrymore’s, Zaphod’s & LiVE Lounge (Ottawa), and the Reverb & Clintons (Toronto). Ashley was also recently featured on Rogers TV’s “Ottawa Living”.
Ashley currently hosts Open Stage @ the Georgetown in Ottawa weekly, and recently MC’d the Ottawa Folk Festival Auditions as well as Old Man Luedecke & the Good Lovelies at Ottawa’s Great Canadian Theatre Company. He also recently served as Executive Producer on the live compilation CD, “Sounds of Spring: Gallery Studio’s Concert Series”, featuring a tour de force of Ottawa talent including Ana Miura, Andrea Simms-Karp, David Gaudet, Dave Norris, Meredith Luce, Shannon Rose and the Ashley Newall Band.
Having only just released his “LIVE” EP, Ashley is already hard at work on a full-length studio album, due for release in the fall of ’09.
Thanks for the positive feedback. We will try again next year!
We will be playing at the Raw Sugar Cafe on May 9th, so perhaps we'll see you in Ottawa again sooner then later!
Take care Mr. Newall,
Sandra J.
Hey Ashley, thanks for the add!
Great seeing you guys play on Thursday. It's really cool that you're doing your own thing too. I like it!
Anyways, maybe I'll see you at some shows around town? Do you have any coming up?
Take it easy!
Talk to you later
-Matt
Have a great show. I'm actually out of town as of tomorrow so I won't be able to do any kind of remote. Sorry but have a great show anyway and hope to catch you the next time!
