Ashley Wells is a singer/songwriter from Columbia, S.C. A classically trained musician, her music slides effortlessly between acoustic guitar and jazz piano. Whether she's performing her original compositions or covering other artists' songs, audiences agree that her voice is captivating. Her voice has been called "angelic," "lilting," "gorgeous and rich," and she has been compared to Norah Jones, Natalie Merchant, Joni Mitchell, and Jewel. Her original songs are known for their lyrical clarity and wit. In 2007, Ashley attended the prestigious New Song Academy, hosted by NPR's Mountain Stage program, where she was recognized as a stand-out songwriter by the academy's faculty, including Susan Werner, who had this to say about Ashley: "Keep an eye on this young, sly Southern writer - she's one to watch."
