The name "Ashling Aine" is a combination of two women's Irish Gaelic names. "Ashling" means "vision", while "Aine" means "beauty".

The Story Behind Ashling Aine Celtic Designs:

My husband Jim and I collected together our very best designs, and boldly made an appointment with one of the top catalog companies in the Irish-Celtic market. We were ushered into a lovely kitchen area, where we were invited to sit down and present our products. When we were finished, the owner looked kindly at us, smiled, and told us how very much she liked what we had brought... there was just one problem. There were no Irish designs!

We felt a little foolish at this obvious oversight, but were encouraged by the fact that she had indeed liked what we had brought. We asked her to give us another appointment in a week's time, assuring her we would come back with some Irish designs for her to see, and she agreed. There was just one problem... we had never done even one single Irish jewelry design!

Back to our in-house factory we went, knowing that this challenge was a turning point for our business. I come from a Scotch-Irish background, and felt that this would be a great opportunity for me to become familiar with the art and culture of my heritage. We researched Irish-Celtic designs, and came up with several we thought were very good, and worthy to present to the catalog company. We were back in the kitchen again-- but this time she place orders for almost everything we brought! We were on our way in the Irish-Celtic design business.

Our business grew year by year, with our Celtic designs becoming a solid mainstay. Our aim was to be innvoative, yet in keeping with traditional symbols and design patterns. A few years ago we decided to launch a line of Celtic jewelry which would carry its own name. It had to be a special name, one with meaning and reference to the product as well as to the Irish culture which inspired this type of jewelry.

I gave the project to a friend named Christine O'Shea, who researches and writes all of the copy for our designs. Christine's husband Patrick truly embraced his cultural roots: singing, playing, and recording traditional Irish music until his death at the age of 42. She chose to combine two names from the Old Irish Gaelic language: Ashling meaning vision, dream, or inspiration, And Aine, signifying splendor, joy, and radiance, and which is connected with fruitfulness and prosperity.
