hey been awhile since i last visited this page...Been preety hard on me lately and you were the one i could talk to when i felt giving up again. I am pregnant with my first child and am engaged with my love of my life...all of events which i could have you to be a part of. You're an way beyond great friend and should always be remembered....love ladi blu
My friend Asif, the days go by but nothing changes. I wake up every morning and something is always there, reminding me of you. At first I'm overwhelmed with joy, like I'm seeing you on your visits upstate. Then like a train moving full speed into my heart I know the reality.
It burns to think, but hurts more to forget While we sit here, knowing you're in the peaceful rest Life is not the same, an emptiness not filled Like a glass of water, that has spilled I'm not whole, and the world will never be better As it only has the remnants of what is the Meta

-Dec 21, 2006 11:32 AM I be sittin' on a cloud lookin' down at the earth, All the people runnin' like ants- what is it worth? Different day- same story, livin' life without exploring, If you want, you can ignore me- sorry if I'm sounding corny, But the fact of the matter is clearer than halogen- Light bulbs shinin' light on modern day pathogens, If we're rappin' in a wrinkle in time, who's movin' up? We're just actin' like the future is here but we're stuck, No progression in the session of the cipher of minds, We're just sittin' decomposin'- like growth was a crime, Let me be the vigilante- a man with his own advancing, Bringin' life to dead souls like practicing necromancy, Cuz a breath to the spirit can revive a lost soul, So I exhale when I rhyme to unlock a new goal, Let the words ressurect (with the help of the beats), Spreadin' life with the cipher makin' rappers complete.
Thank you, It will save me so much money on gas on those short trips. I'm already signed up for safety courses which will help me get my Motorcycle Licence.
I was thinking of saints a few days ago. St.Anthony and St. Christopher are my favs. Because I always lose my things and I get so scared when I travel. There are a few things I took from my religious up bringing: my faith in God, the wicked awesome stories from the Bible (good fiction), and some saints to boot. Anyway, I thought of Asif, and how awesome it would be if he were named a saint. And thought of what kind of saint he would be and what he would be a saint for...And I came up wtih: St. Asif, Patron Saint of the Starving Artists.
And the prayer, would go a little something like this:
St. Asif, Thank you for reminding us that every day is wicked great Give us the strength to never give up on our dreams. When there are assholes, smite them with your smile. When we are saddened, grace us with an unbelievavbly tasteless joke.
St.Asif, Speak those words of hope and happiness So that we may never give up on our day Teach me how to make every day precious How to make fun of my constant follies How to not give a fuck and smile. Or just smile.
St. Asif, Shine your divine beat boxing light on us So that we may all beat box To the sounding beat of our hearts And follow it desires...
Sorry to hear that you couldn't make it. It's on Queens Blvd. & 55th Rd. If you take R train, get off at Grand Ave., it's 2 blocks from the station. You can go there any time and pay respect. It would be nice if you could come. I wish you called! I've posted some photos of the rally, several of Asif's friends came.
I have collecting signature for petition for a bike lane on Q.B. If you can make time and come to sign one I'd be happy. People signed a petition at the rally and at his birthday tribute. Thanks for sharing your memories. Take care, stay well. Keep in touch.
I tired to find the bike rally yesterday, now Queen Boully isn't my turf, but i got off the 7 train at 7:30 at 52nd and walked to 55th street(no 55th road in sight), i walked around hoping to find the gathering till about 8:15 or so; no one in sight...well, if it hsappened somewhere, i hope it embodied the spirit of my man Asif; as I walked the blocks looking for the gathering, i let the memory of my times with him get back to me and how he always inpsired me , he had a special way of listening to people that made you feel special and it was the most geniune friendly feeling one can experience,, we used to call and leave messages if we didn't get each other, he'd rhyme or just speak from the lip a new poem, me, i was always more reserved and i'd read a latest poem that i'd written, he'd get back to me(he was always better at it than me, returning calls) and he seem3ed to be the only one that understood where i was coming from with my poetry, he had it like that and he shared it...there's so much more to say about this kid, i owe him alot and i only knew him for a few short years....i've been riding my bike like crazy almiost everyday for the last 3-4 months and i ride with his spirit beside me, any way i can help to create more bike lanes on queens blvd or in the city for evferyopne else and for the memory of my friend Asif, please let me know....much love.. Mikey Rook!
