The hip/hop group Awaken Souls In Society formed in February 2008, in Blacksburg, VA. The band consists of Steven Pittman, Jr. (Smoove), Querit Rivera (Geddiknotz), with Chris Gustin (AKOG member) on the electric violin. With 2 new artists that have been in tuned with A.S.I.S. A female vocalist with a Norah Jones and Nelly Fertardo sound with her own swag and a Russian rapper/DJ. Steven Pittman (Smoove) is co-founder and the main creative writer. A.S.I.S brings Luv-Hop, Hip-Hop and Soul oriented music to the table, with a fresh outlook on sound and a hunger for success. Original beats and tracks are a primary focus. Along with Smoove, Geddiknotz, and Chris, a variety of guest artists are also commonly featured in the live acts.
ASIS performs local and regional shows on a weekly or semi-weekly basis. Drawing large consistent crowds for each of these events. DJ Mike E and DJ Rahbee spins their original beats as well as a mix of popular hip-hop from other artists. Live instruments, including electric violin, are also implemented during shows to add a new flavor and original sound.
