This is what my friend Steve referred to as "tension wood". You see, when it gets over 110 degrees in Las Vegas those of us who are smart drive about 45 min north to Mt. Charleston where it's at least 30 degrees cooler. We camp, have a picnic, goof off, and take a break from the heat. Check it.

Hmmm...The Bible rocks my face off. Reading about the life of Jesus and how He challenged the "norms" of society blows my mind. I just read a great book called "The Irresistable Revolution", which was amazing. Also books like "The Signature of Jesus". "Blue Like Jazz", "The Forgotten Ways" and so many more. "The Ragamuffin Gospel"... "Velvet Elvis", "Chasing Daylight"..."The Shack". These books have all shaped who i am and played a part in changing my life. I'm currently reading a book by Bob Roberts called "Multiplication". "Church Planting Movements" by david Garrison. "The Starfish and The Spider" by Ori Brafman. Amazing.
Heroes
Not to sound cliche' but Jesus Christ is seriously my number one hero. HE has shown me lately what it means to TRUST in HIM and rest in the comfort of HIS "bigness". HE is my purpose and i couldnt make it without HIM. If you ever want to know anything about HIM feel free to ask...I'd love to talk with you about how He changed my life!

Thanks for the invite.. it was definitely an extreme blessing, and although it may seem like what the speakers where speaking of, was already being lived through our communities. I most definitely learned a lot and took a lot of practical, yet biblical application towards our own pursuit of Christ and becoming more like how he lived...

I thought I would let you know that we actually decided to try to sell the condo and it sold in less than a week! hahaha... so we are in the process of boxing everything up and buying a house, but it makes me a little sad to see it go. I have kept myself in solitude lately, for various actions that I wish I could take back. And for that reason, I need my time with God, I need my time with my Redeemer. As I look through my life, the goals, aspirations and the small accomplishments I have made over the years I have lived here in Las Vegas, I realize that my life is really lost without the commission laid upon me by Christ, Jesus.
The Church in all of its glory lacks the potential to do any real good. The many programs and self help books of the 20th century has boomed this age of faith to the corporate world which is business of America. That rather than the act and spiritual nature of God within a mans soul, there, instead exists an omission of faith. What do I know? perhaps I may be wrong, perhaps the world has it right, and I have it backwards. What do I know? I don't have the proper credentials to give an exact opinion of the business church of today. Perhaps in the granduer scheme of things, it is quite better that the church has become corporate, that maybe in the billions that we spend on flat screen T.V.s, entertainment equipment, state of the art video and recording equipment, we can turn our eyes to the people much less fortunate than us and give them the dollar they deserve.
I have always believed that to destroy any virus, you have to start from the source and work your way out. It should never be worked from the outside, in. So why do we leave Sin City? why not reform it, with an outcry of believers to the masses. I only speak because i was once as guilty with this cause as any one of you!! what should we do? watch as peoples souls die from within us, that like any tree we cannot cultivate our brother and sister, that we allow them to fall and suffer.
