Aspen Woods formed in 2005 in Bristol UK with a handful of songs penned by frontman Lee Woods. The first three years saw them establish themselves locally as a live act, writing further material, while piece by piece putting together recordings in a number of sessions in various Bristol studios. Early 2008 saw the release of their debut album 'New World Disorder', through Razorblade recordings (UK) and Tonevendor (US). Amongst various UK dates throughout the year, 2008 also saw a mini-tour in the US and a tour of Germany, both times sharing the bill with resurgent ex-Sarah records shoegazers Secret Shine. Later in 2008 the opening track from the 'NWD' album - 'All Roads Lead Here' - was included on the Northern Star Records compilation 'Psychedelica Three'. Building upon the success of the first German tour, the live action culminated in a second tour of Germany in early 2009, this time billed as the headlining act. Since then, 2009 has seen the focus shift from the live scene back to the studio. Over an albums worth of new songs are already written, with almost half of those now recorded, and a new line-up for live shows is planned, all with a view to a release in 2010 and a return to live action.
