About me:

My name is Malik Salaam. I have spent the past decade as a full-time performance poet... full-time... that means I have sustained my livelihood through my command of the mic and the stage. Recently, this skill (for writing and performing) has begun to blossom into a very promising career as a filmmaker and playwright. I am excited at the response that I have been recieving for my debut project in both fields. I have founded the Asphalt Theatre Group with one mission in mind: to produce quality plays that show us as more than one dimensional creatures. Our 2008-2009 season is comprised of two other full-length plays: The Waiting Room and Suicide Soliloquy. We are very excited! So, for now please enjoy this page... watch my reels... subscribe to my blog... check out my amazing top friends (real life). And we hope to see you when the curtain raises...

Our nation is plagued with an epidemic that requires immediate and effective attention. The hip hop/pop culture is crying out for help, answers and guidance; an alternative to violence, drugs, sexual promiscuity and other ills that are glamorized by our many media of entertainment. "IronE...The Resurrected" is a solution that is sure to help create positive change in our society. It is a powerfully explosive production that must be seen.
To book IronE to perform this show for your organization (theater, college campus, school, youth group, etc. ) please contact: IronE@IronEproductions.com
An honest politician is an oxymoron in American politics. Poetry Politics & The Polls is a series of events dedicated to bringing that truth to the political dialogue. We are on the verge on the biggest presidential election in the history of the country. We are in the midst of the biggest economic collapse since the Great Depression. It is more important now, than ever, to be informed about the world around you. On Nov 1, 2008, Poetry Politics & The Polls will present a panel discussion to address some the issues that we as Black people and Americans face going forward. We have assembled a distinguished panel of artist/activist to address some of these topics. Panelist will include Amir Sulaiman, Queen Sheba, Haziq Ali, Cola Rum and Tommy Bottoms
