Today’s world of video and computer technologies has caused the Music Business to undergo drastic changes in philosophy and methodology. Long gone are the days of some record executive hearing an artist sing, deciding the artist is star material and worth investing / gambling several hundred thousand dollars of corporate money toward the development of the artist’s career. The artist who goes out and records a three-song demo, expecting that this is all that will be necessary to land a major label recording contract is the artist that will be left behind. It just doesn’t happen that way anymore.
This is a new day, a new age of Music. Today’s record labels are more interested in offering contracts to artists who are tested and packaged. Major Record Labels expect to spend one million dollars or more breaking a new artist. In addition, it will take almost two years before the label will have any indication as to whether an artist will be a financial success for them. The commitment a label executive must be willing to make on behalf of the label, of time, money and resources is so great, the job of convincing these individuals to take the plunge has become close to impossible.
That being said, what can be done to present an artist to labels in the most favorable light? The answer, though multifaceted, has a simple solution. The more that is done to reduce the label’s exposure to risk, the greater the chance for the artist to be signed by the label.
Aspirion Records Group, a consortium of talented individuals, through a collective creative spirit and expertise, has developed a record label program specifically designed to increase an artist’s sphere of influence and public awareness. The direct result to an artist is an increase in exposure with the ultimate goal of increasing that artists’ sale of product and merchandise.
The Aspirion Records team works closely with the artist and their management as a service company to create a “brand” for the artist and increase that ‘brand awareness’ through exposure on radio, video, the internet and ultimately at retail. In order to be considered for the Aspirion Records Group program, an artist must be commercially viable with a finished CD or EP. The CD must meet professional production standards and be of commercial broadcast quality.
