Thompson, an assorted array of political groups and artists who try to push the boundaries of radicality and create a more interesting world. These include, to a certain extent, the politics of Leila Khaled and the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a revolutionary socialist secular group who never tried to kill anyone, the Weather Underground, an American Marxist student group who blew shit up around the time of the Vietnam War and accidently killed two of their own but never tried to kill anyone, the art of Joel Peter Witkin, Lee Bul, Paul McCarthy, Goya, Bill Viola, Sherin Neshat, Lee Walton, Duchamp is king, Chapman Bros, Damien Hirst, Ann Weatherton, Rosalie Gascoigne, Barry Mcgee, Sidney Nolan, Luigi Russolo(fucked up politics though), Robert Rauschenberg, Gunther Von Haagen, Tristan Tzara and Dada.
4 lead singers. 2 drummers, 4 guitarists, 1 casio player and a bassman. Not all at the same time mind you (we swap around a bit), but the 6 members of The Assassination Collective are here for a specific reason, and it isn't to fulfill the expected role of what the music industry passes as a rock band these days.
Isn't there more interesting things in life? Who do you think you're accountable to? What will you take responsibility for?
We are sick of the limitations imposed by elements of the underground rock scene that require censorship of anything too "political", which compromises one's apparent "coolness". We write songs about revolution in an age of disorder and a culture industry which keeps musicians and audiences blind to the exploits of capital. We also like to get fucked up and have A LOT OF FUN.

It will also be available in hard copy on the night. This gig is gonna be fun, fun, fun on the Smith st autobahn. Armed with big rock riffs and blazing electrified keys this is the Vultures first show since their sellout LP Launch. This is a band with a plan; and that plan is to make you do the Can Can. Joining them on the night is Mirrorhouse Antics whos live show is a cross between the Arctic Monkeys and The Stooges. They have just released their debut album, recorded at Bakehouse by Mikey from Eddie Current Suppression Ring. Dan Webb's 60's styled Hammond infused insanity is gonna be something to look out for as well as the 'Wise Flys' : they'll make you laugh they'll make you cry, they'll make you laugh about crying. And don't forget to look out for the crazy clown pinyada filled with burning flesh and give away fun toys for the kids. This is a B.Y.O "leotard friendly event ". So pour yourself into your favorite and come on down !!!
Roll up roll up, Vultures of Venus are back in town you funky disco cats. And guess what? ... their self-titled debut LP is finally here! Ten tracks of unadulterated Glampunk Electro madness! It’s unleashed on Thursday 29th of October at Bar Open on Brunswick St. It’s Bowie on steroids; it’s Marquis de Sade and Andy Warhol screaming at the moon through a home-made vocoder. The Lollyshop is open for business ! It’s going to be a huge night filled with bubble machines, strobes, psychedelic video projections and cautionary tales to tell your grandchildren. It will also feature live performances from those vixens of burlesque “the Venus Man Traps”. Support on the night comes from psych-popsters Go-Go Sapien serving up synth-infected garage with lashings of ravenous big sexy guitars. Make sure you get down early to catch the debut performance by newcomers Tusk. And most importantly we have kept the entry fee down to a very affordable – FREE ! Copies of Vultures of Venus’s LP can be scoped up for a low $10 on the night. Yee-Har space cadets !
Do you like to go "bump" in the night? You sure do! Are you ready for this year's Thereminstrosity? You bet you are!
This Saturday (Oct17), the low priests present the Third Annual Theremin Festival "The Cabinet of Dr.Thereminstrosity". A night assured to be full of eeriness, silliness and explosive fun! With influences ranging from jazz, horror soundtracks, goth, punk and rock, the low priests, Justin Ashworth and Space Zombies from the Moon showcase the rarely seen versatility of this fine instrument.
So don your spooky outifts or come as you are but make sure you can at least tap your toes in "those" shoes of yours as you strap yourself in for one hell of a spookily fun ghost-train.
