About ASSASSINNER - X-Treme Music for X-Treme People
The beginning of the nineties discovered an intense movement on Portuguese metal.
Lots of bands were struggling on the underworld and some of them got their break.
From the thrash-punk sound of their tracks to their furious gigs full of energy made Crackdown soon started being talked as one of the new promises. Lots of gigs and two demo-tapes "Against the Rules" – 1996 and "Blame" – 1997, gave them the recognition of the press, radios and public. "Blame" was even considered the best metal demo-tape of the year in a major contest voted by some of the most important music media specialists. Some of their songs were picked for sampler’s cds.
*"Sometimes Death is Better – Part 8" (Belgium’s Shiver Records), *Promúsica n.º 9, 21 and 39 (Portuguese magazine), *Cais do Rock Vol. 3 (Portuguese’s Lowfly Records) were just some of them.
The debut album "Purge" was released in 1999, under the name of Str@in and had excellent reviews of magazines, zines and radio-shows.
With more power than ever, the new material exceeds all the metal limits.
The crossover sound, from metal to alternative rock, hard-core, electronic and hip-hop made them opened for Extreme Noise Terror, Ratos de Porão, Tarantula, Ramp and played at important Portuguese Festivals like Paredes de Coura, Cais do Rock, Penafiel Special Open Air, Feira do Metal de Almada, Metal Xmas Festival and in charismatic places such as Coliseu do Porto, Hard Club and more.
But the band didn’t resist to the internal and personal conflicts and split apart. After some years playing in alternatives projects of rock music, the metal roots spoke louder! In 2007 Ary, Alexandre and Raul reunited for their most ambitious challenge ever: EXTREME MUSIC FOR EXTREME PEOPLE!!!
This is the reason why ASSASSINNER are here for!!!
From the first rehearsal emerge "Dream Murder Song" and "No Further Questions".
Two songs that accused the raw sound of the band and revealed Thrash Metal and New York Hard Core influences. ASSASSINNER’s first appearance was in May 2007, at Vieira do Minho. The chaos and destruction of their live act infected all the presents and everyone acclaimed the band’s concert as the best performance of the festival.
Meanwhile they shared stages with bands like Inhatred (France), ???? - Four Questions Marks (France), Headstone, Equaleft and a lot of other Portuguese groups.
In July 2007, the lack of time of Raul, stirred by their professional duties, dictate his discharge from the project and his temporarily replacement by Carlos Filipe (ex-Slavery Cicle) which personality, nerve and skills shoots renewal energy to the band.
The return of the warrior happened in May 2008. Raulzão was, is and will always be the perfect weapon for this lethal war machine.
And that is how it should be!!!
In September/October 2008 their debut demo “Other Theories of Crime” was recorded with Daniel Cardoso (who also produced Heavenwood, Ava Inferi, among others) and Pedro Mendes at Ultrasound Studios (Braga – Portugal). Art by:

Comé maltinha, prontos para mais um tema do nosso 1º EP "SEMENTES DA DESORDEM"?
Já podem escutar o revisitado tema "BAR DA GNR", tema nº 2 do EP e que precede às "GUITARRAS DE GUERRA". Este tema já com alguns anitos lavou a cara e foi gravado no inicio de 2009 com novos arranjos, mantendo no entanto todo o carisma que vez dele um dos hinos dos ERVAS DANINHAS. Durante 20 dias, mais ou menos, vão poder entrar no "BAR DA GNR" e buer uma cervejola e morfar uma entremeada e até mesmo apanhar uma carraspana sem ficarem de cana... Dêm gás no volume e acordem os vizinhos... pelo menos aqueles que dormem a sesta ao Domingo à tarde. O "BAR DA GNR" contou com a presença de dois convidados muito especiais, foram eles o Igor e o Arroja dos SHIVERS, que por entre copos de binho e assaltos à sacristia ainda tiveram tempo para uma ida à Sela... ops, desculpem o erro... uma ida à cela.
