ABOUT ME: ...an honest skeptic who tries to look on the bright side. I'm a Leo that wakes up for the full moon. Best when playing guitar but I feel good playing any instruments or singing. An ear for my friend's problems. That's me, an effervescent optimist with doubts. Always ready to jam... Wanting to share again my life with my long-lost but recently re-united son. Thank You, God! Thank you, Britty! The ball is in his court now...INTERESTS: The well-being of my son & making music. Meantime, I'm takin' care of my catpack & making music with people, playing guitars, synths, drums, bass & singing. Also, 12 & 6 string acoustic guitars, digeradoo, rain stick, djembe, timbales, calimba, steel drum & various percussion instruments. I also like to read novels, one after the other, before I go to bed. BEING BORN & MAKING MUSIC: I was born in Mildenhall Air Force Base Hospital, Suffolk, England. My father was stationed there in the USAF (now British RAF). After Dad got out of the Air Force, we moved back to the USA. We lived in New Jersey then Connecticut where my brother & sister were born. We moved to Miami, Florida, when I was 4. Mom & Dad were divorced when I was 6, so I grew up with my mom, younger brother Scott & little sister Nancy. Mom never remarried. Dad did twice. He adopted & raised his wive's children in both of those marriages. I have a few memories of my father. He taught me how to ride a bike when I was 5. Mostly raised in Miami, I got my first acoustic guitar at the age of 7. I used to bang on the back of it like bongos, till it came apart. Soon I got another one & finally learned something. Secret Agent Man & Dirty Water come to mind... Mom bought me my first electric guitar & amp when I was 14. I taught myself barre chords at 15, although I didn't know what they were called till much later. Some of my early musical influences are the Beatles, Monkees, Rolling Stones, Three Dog Night, Steppenwolf, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Doobie Brothers, Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Yes, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd. When I was 16, my high school buddy, Shaun Bell and his older brother, Tim (RIP my friend), took me to see Frank Zappa at the University of Miami, where I got his autograph. He was doing "Bongo Fury" at the time. Not only do I believe (like Zappa) that humor does belong in music, but Zappa's music introduced me to jazz rock, which opened many new rich listening experiences for me. I grew to love his burning guitar solos, often off the wall & from left field! At 18, I first heard John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Later, Jean-Luc Ponty, Return To Forever, Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs, Steve Vai and one of Zappa's recommended guitar players, Allan Holdsworth were regular listening for me. The first band I was in (1993) was called SPHINCTER WINK. That didn't last too long, thank GOD! Although years later, I met up with Ziv Haims, the bassist and we recorded the CD, "BETTER THAN BACON" in 2002. In 1995, I played Guitar in a band called RASH with Joe Levis on DX7 synth, Hammond M-1 & Vocals, Charley "Chuck" Long on Bass and Mike Aleuta on Drums. We played some parties. Joe & I have worked with SATYRIASIS (a live project), ASSTRAL ORKESTRA & AREOLA 51 (Miami). He is currently with the band MOTHERSHIP MUSIC GROUP (2008). I started the band, ANCIENT INFANT, in 1995 with Samantha Ardenfrend on Bass & Vocals and Manic (I should talk) Juan (who gave me a drum set & a trumpet). We did like 4 or 5 songs then Sam left the band. Juan went off to Rehab shortly after. Haven't seen him since...Juan with the superlong name where R U? A year later, I met up with Samantha again at a TOBACCO ROAD open-mic performance of her new band. We hit it off well and I was rehearsing with them at my studio. We revived some earlier co-written tunes and some new ones as well. One of the singer/acoustic guitar players quit over musical differences and the other lead guitar player wasn't very committed at the time. Soon the band was streamlined to just Sam on bass & vocals, Terry Svolto on drums & myself on guitar & vocals. We played Rose's on SOBE at least 4 times. Then Sam left again (1997) & I have not seen her since (miss ya Sammie!). Terry & I recruited Carlos Baca on bass till we got Jose Martinez to play bass fulltime whereupon Carlos resumed with 2nd lead & rhythm guitar & background vocals. I took over main vocals & guitar. We played Rose's many times, ChurchHill's Pub, Gables Pub & The Clevelander. We put out five albums: (1) No.1 SON, (2) Red-Headed Step-Child, (3) Shut Up & Play, (4) Seasons Of Life, & (5) Shakes Your Hand. The Order of the Ancient Infant has been on hiatus since 2002. During 2000, I opened BLUE CRIB RECORDING STUDIOS, a home studio recording facility in Miami, Florida, USA, where I produce my own music as well as some other artists. During 2000-2001, I started the band ASSTRAL ORKESTRA. In deference to band problems in the past, the Orkestra had sort of an open door policy. Players came and went. Some returned. So much music resulted in 2001! ELECTRIC MANGO, OPTICKLE 8, STAR SMOKERS, GUITORMENTOR, ALIEN LUV CHILE, AREOLA 51 (Miami) & JAZZ JUNKYARD are bands/projects I've played in as well as my own solo projects. Mostly, but not all, instrumental with lots of improvisation, there are many collaborators that I have recorded with, such as: Eric & John Babl, Sergio Dubeaux, Jose Martinez, Terry Svolto, Carlos Sebastian Baca, Joe Levis, Carlos Caudales, Steve "Father Time" Katz, Ed Garcia, Jessie "Mad Scientist" Schlactman, Asher Schlactman, Dave Cajigas, Jeff Anderson, Paranoid Phil, Mike Miller (RIPbro), Mark Latta, Ernie Calderon, Tony Gordon, Bill Duncan, Brian Best, Fausto Perez, Bryan Finkelstien, Mike Olivero, Lewis Rainbow, Greg Munteanu, Dr. Ziv Haims, Samantha Ardenfrend, Laurie Johnson, Larry Langner, Larry Lee, Franklin Howay, Fred Spacey, "Electric Danny" Rivero, Dave Gavarras, Mark Martinez, Sid Goldberger, Pedro Montero, Jerry (JB) Brown, Jamie Burritt, Tony Sanchez, Frank Milone, Alfredo Camargo & Rafi Bordenave... I formed the bands, ANCIENT INFANT in 1995, ASSTRAL ORKESTRA in 2000, STAR SMOKERS, GUITORMENTOR, ALIEN LUV CHILE & JAZZ JUNKYARD in 2001.
