Sounds Like
The kind of hard rocking music that your neighbors would call the cops on you for!
What happens when 4 mentally challenged, musically savant individuals come together to form a band? Well, you get the Alcatraz Swim Team.
How the hell did they come up with that name?
Who cares...the bottom line is that you won't believe your ears when you come to see these convicts. They bring to the show a hard driving rhythm section along with burning guitar licks from one of the island's most accomplished axe men. AST is one of the few bands that can pull off a precise 4 part harmony with the likes of the reprobates that make up the staff. This really makes songs like "any way you want it" come alive unlike you have EVER heard before. You won't believe how fast time flies while you are at the show...when it's over, you will find yourself jonesing for another fix of AST!
The lore of AST will live on for sometime. I am considering some sort of therapy to help me get over it. Maybe just a few visits with Jim Beam,MD. and yeah, cmon out..and see what shaking on the 24th..It may be a costume party,btw..so if ya want dress up. It would be cool seeing Karen again, she was always so tolerant of the hijinx...probably deserves sainthood! Ellen is almost always on hand. How's guitar playing? Stay with it..you enjoy it..and you have the knack. It just takes a long time to get somewhere on the guitar. Eric Clapton has been at it 40 years and they STILL call him SLOWHAND...ha-ha!! Stay in touch..btw: I tried to call you back next day..your phone number was "Unrecognized" on my phone..weird..but hey thats everything these days..WEIRD!! Hopefully see you the 24th...Boo! George
Hey guys, just wanted to say..it's been alot of fun playing guitar in the band and wish you all the best this Holiday Season and in 2009. -George (former guitarist/ham in AST).
There are a couple of Mustang Sally's pics over at George's myspace. Thanks goes to Bernadette, Jay's wife for permission to put em up. -George Barry (guitar guy in Alcatraz Swim Team) see you at the next GIG!
We promise that we will get the photos up next week once Brian's show is over. Work is killing us all...but look at the bright side, we are back in West Islip this weekend for MY BIRTHDAY!!!
Hang in there...Pictures are coming, but we are also working on our website at the same time. Things take time, and since we have regular jobs to pay for all this fun, we need to do a bit of work in between!
Hey man - it was great to see you too! It's been way too long! Hopefully you guys can make it to the Donkey on Halloween! That should be nothing short of insane! BTW - Lovin your new band! Totally fired-up!! --Dave
