About me:

Founded over a hundred years ago, Aston University is an established, "old" University known for world class Teaching Quality and Research. Our Graduate Employment record is consistently the best in the UK, with strong links with industry, government and commerce.

Aston is ranked in the UK's top 15 in both the 2008 Times and Telegraph Good University Guides.

All of the University's academic, social and accommodation facilities are based on our attractive, self contained green Campus, right in the centre of Birmingham, one of Europe’s liveliest and welcoming cities. We are proud of our close-knit, safe and friendly campus atmosphere which provides the perfect environment for academic success and a fantastic social life.

Aston University offers over 300 courses at Undergraduate (first degree) and Postgraduate level (Masters and PhD Research programmes) coupled with a thriving research culture across a wide range of disciplines.

[This is the official MySpace for Aston University]

Open Days and Visits:
The University offers a range of pre- and post-application Open days for undergraduate and postgraduate students. These are organised by our individual academic departments/Schools of study and include campus, accommodation tours and more detailed information about the degree programme(s) you have applied for. There's also lots of opportunity to ask questions and meet staff and students and often practical activities and lab/department tours.

Finding Aston:
Aston University is a campus University located right in the centre of Birmingham. Where possible, we recommend that visitors use public transport as Birmingham city centre is well served by train, coach, bus and air from all parts of the UK and beyond, but the University is also accessible by car. Our website contains detailed directions of how to find us.

In the Heart of Birmingham:
Aston is located in the centre of Birmingham - an exciting and vibrant city. Birmingham – Britain’s second city - is internationally recognised as a leader in leisure, entertainment, business, shopping, industry and sport. The city centre is a fusion of attractive squares, modern shopping arcades, diverse pubs, clubs and restaurants and fine museums, theatres and art galleries – truly a World City.

Accommodation and Facilities:
Our attractive, safe, compact campus and friendly students make living in University residences a very sociable and enjoyable experience. There are two types of accommodation available, to suit differing tastes and budgets. The University guarantees accommodation to first years who put Aston as their first choice.

Life after Aston:
Aston has an unrivalled record in finding its graduates jobs. One of the reasons our graduates become so successful is that everything we do is geared towards giving our students the skills and knowledge to thrive in the world of work. We also have an outstanding Careers Service to guide our students through the job-seeking process.

Keeping in Touch:
We think of our students as being part of Aston for life, not just for the three or four years they spend here. We have a thriving alumni relations programme which helps our alumni stay in touch with the University, and each other. We are currently in contact with around 26,000 of our graduates worldwide.

The Students’ Guild:
At some other universities, the Guild would be called the Students’ Union. The Guild represents the interests of the students on various University committees, and provides Sports Clubs, Societies and Welfare Services , partially funded by the Guild's commercial services.

Who I'd like to meet:

We want to hear from all potential, current and previous students! ..

    Hi guys,
I figure that not many people are paying attention to this wall seeing as I was the last person to post almost a year ago! But I will give this a shot anyway:

Myself and my 2 other housemates are looking for a friendly, clean and tidy girl from Aston to join us as out fourth tenant from now until June. The room advertised is spacious, with a double bed, sockets for a laptop or TV, cupboard and desk.

If interested please email me at burgessh@aston.ac.uk
