About STORY OF RATS

Multi- media artist Garek Druss uses A Story of Rats as a vehicle to expand his interests in polyphonic tones, repetition, and distorted environmental recordings. This project investigates the poignant effect that audio can produce on preconceived time structures and the idea of listening as both an act of performance and participation. A Story of Rats consists of a minimal sound palette which is both electronic and acoustic. The live performances are anchored by synthesizers, manipulated sound-scapes, and intonations. He also performs in the Seattle based duo Dull Knife and the Portland OR based quartet Tecumseh, He has collaborated with Pussygutt (Olde English Spelling Bee/ 20 Buck Spin), Yann Novak (Dragon Eye Recording), and Squim (Olde English Spelling Bee). Garek Druss is in the process of recording several new compositions which will be released late summer/ fall 2009, on What We Do is Secret (SEA) and Olde English Spelling Bee (NY).
