The Australian Rock band ASTRALALIENS are the 2009 champions of The Battle for Los Angeles!!
ASTRALALIENS have just won the "Battle for Los Angeles" band competition, sponsored by KROQ, Heineken and Red Bull. The ASTRALALIENS battled it out in the Grand Final against 5 of LA’s top bands, from an initial 36 of LA’s top contenders, for the grand prize and bragging rights.
The Aussies had a flying start on their first trip to Los Angeles just over a year ago. Their triumphant US debut at the Key Club in Hollywood became the subject of a documentary film.
With the recent completion of their second tour of LA clubs, having appeared at many of Hollywood’s leading Rock venues, including multiple appearances at The Viper Room (7 times!!), Key Club, Whisky A Go-Go, The Mint, The Derby and other prominent venues, they embark for their third LA club tour on June 9, which will include not only Los Angeles and other Southern California appearances, but touring throughout California and the Southwestern states of Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
The Aussies relished competing in The "Battle 4 LA", as they are no strangers to band competitions, having won several of them in their home country.
Signed to one of Australia’s leading independent record labels, Wizard Records, they first rose to prominence Down Under by winning the “Bandfest” rock contest, soon after which they won the "Best Radio-Friendly Band" title at the finals of "ROCKSTAR…The Real Deal!", the rock band search sponsored by Australia’s leading rock radio network, Triple M, and Coca-Cola.
They were also the Runners-Up in the Australian Grand Final of the Jim Beam National Band Competition, as well as the Winner of the Queensland State Final of the World Battle Of The Bands contest.
The ASTRALALIENS are getting the attention of lots of new fans here in America, with over 320,000 hits and 500,000+ plays on their Myspace page since they arrived there, and they are now getting ready to showcase for US record companies on there next LA tour.
ASTRALALIENS consists of the brothers Jakob Fehrés (vocals/bass) & Mablo Fehrés (vocals/guitar), American singer/lead guitarist Eric Slater (who has now become a Queensland resident), and drummer Chaz Stockham. They are seasoned Karate practitioners, and martial arts katas and the Australian Aboriginal didgeridoo form an integral part of the ASTRALALIENS’ unique stage performances.
