UPDATE: Both Astral Pedestrian albums are now available to buy as instant downloads from HOmegrown Sounds as MP3 albums (256kbs). Payment is either via Paypal or Credit Card.
The first real Astral Pedestrian release was an EP called Restoration in 1999 and the actual track Restoration was written for a Nazca Nine performance at St Mary's Church/art space in Hull to raise funds for the roof. There was also a track called Solar Eclipse and another Winter Solstice. The whole idea for me was to explore a meditational/trance avenue in longer pieces of music than I was writing for Nazca Nine, which was a bit more intense. Solar Eclipse was a similar challenge.
The next release started from material that was actually going to be for Egyptian Odyssey 2 in 2001, (I had done the soundtrack for Egyptian Odyssey in 2000). This never happened so I shaped some of this material into an album and wrote some more to complete. It's a very ambient album and allowed me to explore some interesting areas outside of my usual boxes ie; Subsonic HeadDub and Nazca Nine. In fact the main title track of EO was Nazca Nine MareImbrium, Medhat the egyptian commentator thought it sounded Egyptian, which was a great compliment! With the EO project now defunct I may release some of it as downloads at some point.
That brings me up to the new album 'Shining' which I have just completed, this is a collection of 4 new tracks and 3 from the last couple of years. You are probably listening to one of them now. For more in depth information on this album go here
Musically these days after spending a few years creating sample CDs I have started using very few samples in my music (except with some of the CPS stuff). I have a Steinway Piano that zendog an myself sampled which is always used, but theres no way I can fit a grand piano in my house, unlike Zendog who really has got one! I mainly play guitar, bass guitar, tabals, djembe, violin, acoustic, JD800, flute and a sharp MT80 minidisc, whch is great, you can pick them up for less than £20 on ebay, they're simple and tough, I've dropped it a few times and it still works great.
If you like this music then please check out my other projects on the list over there <-------- There are also some free downloads available at www.astralpedestrian.com
