Described as having an atypical Jersey Shore sound, Astronaut Jones' acoustic rock is a unique and original experience. With influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to The Misfits, his playing and songwriting are in a class by themselves. Performing originals and select covers "his way" since 2004, he was nominated in 2007 by the Asbury Music Awards as the Top Male Acoustic Act. In addition: *Airplay on The Howard Stern Show *Featured on Hamilton Radio's "Rock on Radio!" *Featured on "The Jersey Shore Podcast" *Featured on "NY ROCKS! TV" *Performed live on the "Princeton TV Megathon" Also featured in "The Jersey Shore Rag", "The Coaster" and "Upstage" magazines. ’ A guitarist for over 20 years, he began his musical experience on piano at the age of 5. During these formative years he sang in his church choir and performed as a hand bell ringer there. This was, of course, until his teenage years when he found guitar. Taking private lessons initially for two years, he eventually graduated on to study theory and technique at The Village East Conservatory of Music, which he continued with for two years further. During this time he began playing out in Local NJ bands and in 1998 formed the hardcore/blues band Muffled Crap and later the Jersey Rock band Exit 117. Now he is expanding his own sound by building his namesake band “Astronaut Jones and The Ground Crew”. A diverse musician, he has studied voice, drums and classical guitar & taught guitar and bass privately. For six years he taught for Big Beat Music Studio in Neptune NJ where he ran their ‘School of Rock’ style band class & Jam nights.

Bio:

.. Described as having an atypical Jersey Shore sound, Astronaut Jones’ acoustic rock is a unique and original experience. With influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to The Misfits, his playing and songwriting are in a class by themselves. Performing his originals and a select group of covers ‘his way’, Astronaut Jones has been playing solo in the NY/NJ area since 2004. Although his solo act is a recent avenue, Astronaut Jones is by no means new to the scene. Playing out in local bands since 1998, from early on with Muffled Crap to the most recent Exit 117, he is well seasoned when it comes to the club circuit. That being the case, in 2007 he received a nomination as the Top Male Acoustic Act from the Asbury Music Awards. Along with that, he also received airplay on The Howard Stern Show twice for his parody of a Mark Harris song regularly played on the show. The song had Howard and the entire crew laughing and singing along saying, ‘This is a good one!’
Beginning his musical experience early on, Astronaut Jones started out on piano at the age of 5. During these formative years he also sang in his church choir and was a handbell ringer. Tthis was, of course, until his teenage years when he found guitar. Taking private lessons initially for two years at a local music store, he eventually graduated on to study theory and technique at The Village East Conservatory of Music, which he continued with for two years further. During this time he also began teaching music privately and now teaches guitar and bass for the Big Beat Music Studio in NJ where he also runs their ‘School of Rock’ style band class and Jam nights. In his never ending quest to expand his abilities and further his dream of ‘making it' someday, he has most recently studied voice, drums and classical guitar.
