Astronef is the nom de guitarre of Andrew James, who is forced to use the French word for rocket because there are already too many people called Andrew James who play guitar.
Curses!
Astronef also provides a cunning two-word review for lazy journalists who don't like his music. If there were any.
Andrew records songs onto his laptop with one or both of his guitars, sometimes adding his rudimentary ability with drum machines into the mix. Can you tell he wants a band? He wants a band.
Astronef is mostly about songs with lots of lyrics in them, some of which are clever, some of which are wry, most of which are about girls, although sometimes there are songs about lofty intellectual problems, or weird things.
For a place where Andrew doesn't talk about himself in the third person, and instead rambles on about comics he's drawn, things he's read and gigs he's gone to, click here.
Hey man, how are you doing? Are you still in London? I'm singing at Bar Story, Peckham on May 13th for Friends of the Earth 'Big Ask' event, Lalitha's coming down for it and it'd be really good to see you if you can make it!
Hiya,
Do you remember me? Tessa's mate from High School. I just thought you might like to know that I played one of your songs on Sussex Uni radio last week www.urfonline.com then 'listen live' then 'past shows' then 'Sunday 11th' then 'Amy' (I know, it is the name of my mate I do the show with). Hope all is well with you!

Hi Astronef, you rule!
Your sounds a bit like Marc Bolan : )
I've made 4 covers of Joni Mitchell, Manic Street Preachers, XTC and Big Star...i would like to have your opinion : )
for a guy who does his songs all off his laptop, that's better then some of the crap out there. I very much like your songs, and your comics, that's how I found you on My space...very random comics if I might add....she really did fight the forces of darkness. anyways. good stuff keep up the good work both in music and in comics. you never know you might make it big one day in one if not both.
