About me:
What We're About
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.
Our flagship activities include:
The Atheist Experience weekly cable access TV Show
The Non Prophets biweekly Internet radio show
The ACA Lecture Series
Atheist Community News
Atheist Eve Cartoon
Come meet us!
We have a weekly meeting an discussion group where atheists can interact with each-other. You can join us, Sunday mornings from 11:00am - 1:00pm. We currently meet at Romeo's, 1500 Barton Springs Rd. [Google Map]. You do not need to be a member to come. Once a month (usually the first Sunday of the month) we have a lecture at the Austin History Center that preempts our regular sunday meetings. See below for more about lectures. Be sure to check the calendar for the lecture date.
If you're not a morning person, come hang out with us some evening. Thursday evening is happy hour at the Dog & Duck Pub, 406 W. 17th St. near the Capitol. (Google Map), starting around 7:00pm. On Sunday evenings, the cast and crew of the Atheist Experience go out to dinner with and invite the audience. See the Atheist Experience websiteAtheist Experience website for details.
