The Atheist Insurgency is an idea, not an organization. You cannot declare war on it. The only consequence of exploring atheism is freedom for your mind.
Here are just a few points
- There is no such thing as a soul. Revered philosophers who discussed a soul did so just to save their own careers.
- Waiting for justice from a nonexistant god is foolish. Saying such nonsense as "They'll burn in Hell" or "Let God sort them out" is a waste of time.
- There is no heaven and Jesus is not going to come down and snap his fingers making the pollution go away and the extinct species return, so you better try to save the only world you have, at least for your children.
- People who talk about "freedom of religion" are prisoners who have long forgotten the outside universe.
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
EMPATHY:This is naturally inherent in anyone capable of experiencing pain. This is not brilliant advice, but a mere observation of human behavior. Most people are born with empathy, we look at others and almost feel their experiences. Our species, through natural selection, has built up empathy because we need it to survive as a community. Scientists now know exactly where it resides in the brain.
We have been taught the exact opposite by religion, that most people don't understand this and it must be taught. This "Golden Rule" is one of the most brilliant pieces of fear mongering propaganda ever conceived. It serves as a perfect example of group manipulation and is intended to create "huddled masses."
Religion was and is brutally reliant on illiteracy in order to maintain its authority.
MEANING: The word "meaning" can be defined as a set of conditioned emotional responses to objects in the environment. I can't remember who said it first, but one of my favorite quotes is "Meaning is in people, not in things." No matter what happens, how you feel is entirely your choice, even if the brain tends to produce certain chemicals more than others, creating diverse emotional responses to similar situations.
You can change meaning. Symbols are only mystical in the minds of believers. The most influential of symbolism is architecture. The film The Golden Compass uses architecture as a coded message identifying the real antagonist.
