I could write you a big advertisement about the Atheist
Network, but instead, I'll let the people there tell you what THEY think
of it....
" I like the fact that any idea can become the springboard for discussions
that challenge assumptions all around. I like the fact that you can challenge
anyone on anything, and that anything one says can be challenged as well. I
like the fact that one day you can be in a throw-down drag-out argument with
someone one day and then be on the same side of an argument the very next day.

" I like how nothing, and I mean nothing, is taboo here. No matter what
topic you bring up, nobody will ever think any less of you for it. I've never
seen anything comparable anywhere else. And, this place is a nice outlet for
me. Sometimes, when things in real life are too much to handle, it's nice to
participate in a discussion with people who both can't hurt you and wouldn't
if they could." .... Logican 1229 posts.
" I love how I can come here and talk with people that think similar to
me, its so hard find people like me here in Georgia. I love the free exchange
of thoughts and ideas and how here I am free (for the most part) from the constant
harassment's of the theists." ..... Xbox Atheist 1382 posts.
" I remember shortly before I joined, someone made a comment and it started
a long debate on a touchy subject. I had considered the subject before but have
never heard anyone else's thoughts on it. Most people would have had an immediate
reaction of disgust and drop it. Even a few AN members couldn't take it and
left. (although I think one returned after reconsidering the arguments.) The
point is this, the people here will discuss any idea without accepting or rejecting
it a priori. Everything is scrutinized and judged based on it's own qualities.
Also, I like BBSs rather than chat rooms. It fits with schedules better, anyone
can read the past posts and be as up to date as everyone else, and there is
time to think and research between post and reply." ..... Cthulhu's Quill

" The most corny, cliché and overused reasons of all time... Coming
here makes me realize I'm not alone, I'm not so strange, I fit in here. I grew
up and still live here in the bible belt of Midwest United States. Being an
atheist in the bible belt can make one feel pretty isolated. This is my happy
place to come when my surroundings seem unbearable. This is the only place that
I can consistently enjoy conversations with people who seem sane to me. It is
refreshing and reassuring.

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it, you'd have good people
doing good things and bad people doing bad things, but for good people to do
bad things, it takes religion...s a great source for cool stuff found around the internet,
and a place to have interesting discussions. And you get a muffin! " ....Mutant

" For years I went back and forth believing in xianity, never ready to
accept who I really was. Talking to people here made me realize it is ok. It
comforted me to know that atheists are real people, that there is a place where
questioning religion isn't forbidden. In due course I have not only accepted
myself with everyone's help, but gained a better understanding of why I am an
atheist. When confronting myself with reasons of doubt I can honestly answer
them without hesitation. And when others confront me, criticize me or try to
convert me, I can give logical arguments without the worry of burning in hell.
This place and the people in it give me continual support and courage to face
the world as an atheist. I appreciate it. I am a happier person because of all
of you. " ...... mmccaskill 663 posts
You can read ALL of the reasons the Atheist Network has
meant so much to so many people here.
As you can tell, the Atheist Network is not your ordinary run of the
mill atheist forum. It's much more then that. It's a place of refuge, of honesty,
of respect when earned, and a dedication to cut through the bullshit. It's not
a bashing board, and it's not brainiac board. It's a community.
We are currently revamping our audio feed and are looking for new content
to play. We are putting the call out to all atheists who are in bands, are poets,
have songs of their own, have been in live recorded debates, like to create
audio plays, or would like to create a show of their own.
The Atheist Network has been around for more then 7 years. Originally
created by Jake ( www.afterfaith.com
) and The Infidel guy ( www.infidelguy.com
) it has a large, tight knit, thriving atheist community, that never plays soft,
and never apologizes for it. The Atheist Network was created with the idea that
only through HONEST exchange of ideas and information, can we all break free
of theistic influences. It's not a bashing board, and it's not a brainiac board,
it's a community of atheists as diverse as you can find. We welcome all atheists
to come and join the fun.
If you have some content that you would like to share with the world,
please contact us at radio@atheistnetwork.com . If you would like to join an
atheist community where honesty is key, then join us at www.atheistnetwork.com.
"Many people have traveled this world with different dreams, purposes and aspirations. Many are masters, teachers, inventors and followers. They were all sent by the creator of the universe to achieve one just course; “global peace and unification.” But this course cannot be achieved without unconditional love, which possesses the magical powers of the Divine for transformation. When the human race embraces love unconditional, then the lost will be found, the naked will be clothed, the hungry will be fed, the bombs will be destroyed and there will be peace and unity which will make us all to speak one language, “LOVE”. Let love abide". -- Philip Brown
I slept with faith and found a corpse in my arms on awakening; I drank and danced all night with doubt and found her a virgin in the morning. ~Aleister Crowley, Book of Lies
I humbly request that you vote for Ali Ebadi (Cheffie Chef) for president of the US in the upcoming 2008 elections. We all know that voter apathy (around 50% in 2000) is caused by the fact that the people of this country feel that their situation will not dramatically or even significantly change no matter who they vote for…and this perception is true.
The major fallacy is that someone from a major party can make changes…they cannot (and will not) Both Obama and McCain are members of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and the Trilateral Commission (TLC) , both groups seeking to reduce national sovereignty (to allow multi-national businesses and financial institutions to gain even more influence and power). Both were nominated because they are entrenched in the system and wuill advocate advancement of the system (American hegemony in a world government).
Before Dubya (CFR) was Clinton (TLC, CFR), who while pretending to be a friend of the masses, passed legislation that allowed the boom of Corporate Media takeovers during his administration (think AOL/Time Warner, Viacom & BET, etc). Before him was Bush Sr. (TLC, former director of the CIA) . and Reagan (TLC), two of the biggest supporters of big business and the richest elite of America.
As you can clearly see, neither Democrat nor Republican care about helping the majority...only themselves, and their big businesses that control the most of the world’s economies (and give them such large campaign donations). This situation has deteriorated to the point that media coverage and public opinion of politics has meshed: Only the TWO major parties can save us; can do for Americans. Both Presidential candidates were picked by their respective parties because they either agree with the rich (Mc Cain) or can be persuaded by personal interests (Clinton) or are dumb enough to be manipulated (Bush).
INTERGALLACTIC PROTEST LAUNCHED BY THE ROBOTS FROM MARS!
The Robots From Mars have launched a protest with the Beetlejuice Gaming Commission. The major issue focuses on the disadvantage that metallic robots have when playing Pong since most robots tend to light up when struck by the game ball. “But that all depends on the size of the game ball verses the size of the robot,” the Great Butbot advised, “there’s a proper ratio with these things.” Johnny Air-Guitar, “Getting struck by a ball of light is a real and constant danger…if I light up I’ll give my position away.” Rob “Rainbow” Marley, “I light up if I’m within six feet of a Pong match. I think it is a radiation thing.” “You’d light up anyway,” Johnny Air-Guitar added. “You’re always smoking.” This reporter noted that most of the beings attending the protest in the office of the Beetlejuice Gaming Commission took some of these comments by the Robots From Mars as a joke. But I’m not convinced. I never met a synthetic that had a sense of humor.
ZZ Van Hendrix, “Bowling is even worse than Pong. What robotic ten pin wants to stand around with 9 of his buddies just to get knocked down so that he has to continually pick himself back up again? It’s a senseless stupid ritual! And who gains…some fat old hippie in a tie-dyed T-shirt? Bowling and Pong are both barbaric. They should be outlawed!”

Hey! Great page you've got here. Check out this new blog I posted today; 'Christian Humility and Dignity/Proving a negative to a faith-head', as well as music and videos. One of my chief goals as a thinker and artist is proving that creativity is not God-given or magical/mysterious impossibly convoluted; beyond human understanding. Hope you take an interest in the music on my page:)
