| About Athena Marie |
Athena Marie is a songwriter and artist. She's currently performing at various clubs in Los Angeles including Viper Room Lounge, Molly Malone's, Genghis Cohen, and The Mint. She recently showcased for industry execs and music supervisors at the Durango Songwriter's Expo and the LaLa Music Showcase as well as playing 2 showcases at SXSW.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Athena was the primary songwriter and bass player/co-vocalist for San Francisco’s female fronted pop/punk band, Barbee Killed Kenn. Her song, Unglued, won BKK a spot on the San Francisco stop of the Warped Tour and got radio play from the Bay Area’s largest rock stations, including Live 105. BKK also won the SF Weekly's Bammie award for Best Punk Band in the San Francisco Bay Area. An award that was given to The Donnas in a previous year.
Athena has received several honorable mentions and has placed in the top finalists in songwriting competitions including The Billboard World Song Contest, International Songwriting Competition (ISC), and Durango Song Contest.
Athena has worked as an independent contractor writing songs for an LA based music library. Her songs have been pitched to major label artists as well as getting film/tv placements. Her film/tv placements include LIFE (NBC), FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (NBC), 90210 (CW-promo) and HOW DO I LOOK (Style Network). Currently, Athena is collaborating with several songwriters and artists she's met through various networking events. Her latest project includes co-writing pop/rock songs with producer Dan Marfisi for singer and actress Sabrina Lentini.
