JUNE 13 - AUGUST 5: ARTREACH XVII ArtReach XVII, the seventeenth season of City Without Walls’ award-winning education and exhibition program, opens on Saturday, June 13, 2009 with a free public reception from 6-8 pm at City Without Walls (cWOW), 6 Crawford Street, Newark, NJ 07102. Reception features live music by the Accidental Seabirds with ArtReach mentor Ibrahim Ahmed III. The exhibition is free and open to the public Thursdays - Saturdays 12-6pm through August 5, 2009. 18 aspiring young artists • 15 professional artist mentors • 16 years of award-winning arts education programing.
ArtReach nurtures the next generation of artists and arts leaders. Visual artists from the Newark area mentor gifted high school students in their studios for a semester. Interns receive real-world gallery experience. Prominent artists lecture at Newark high schools. The program culminates with a professional exhibition.
