Progressive rock band, ..Atik Maze ..release their first album, ..“The Man Behind The Lock”.., an original work with eight “pithy” tracks. .. .. ....What makes the band so special is the extraordinary diversity of their sound. Rather like a best selling novel, there’s a surprise around every corner leaving the listener eagerly waiting to turn the next page. The songwriting skills and shear diversity never fail to surprise. Atik Maze takes us on a journey of new experiences and surprises with the promise of something new every time the album is played. After almost three years of self imposed exile, Atik Maze finally decided to “step out into the light”, the main focus here was not to create a “mega studio production”, but rather maintain the rawness and energetic elements of a live venue. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After three years of refuge ATIK MAZE, chose the experience and the professionalism of the Tinman Creative Studios, owned by Mike Myers, who has worked with the Prodigy, Shadows amongst others. They also commissioned to work with the producer Robin Black who had worked on projects with Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Black Sabbath, Lou Reed, Celine Dion amongst other great names of the music world. For the Band, 2009 was a year of hard and intensive work but incredibly productive. They divided their time between launching of the album, various promotional activities (press releases, interviews and concerts) both national and international, events, preparation of the second album and making contact with various agencies. For the first time ATIK MAZE was heard on radio at RADIO FOIA on the 5th of February of 2009 with three songs, Out of Time, Painting Mirrors and The Man Behind The Lock, they gave an interview with the radio station on the 20th of February 2009. From mid March to end of April 2009, they were highlighted as the preference band on the cultural website, “Onda Culta”. On the 6th of July 2009 they give another interview to RUA FM, for the weekly program “País Relativo”, dedicated to Progressive Rock, where their music is frequently heard. Their international debut on the radio happened in Poland on RADIO ALFA. International recognition has taken off for the band in 2009 with articles and features on various websites and radio stations in Europe and the rest of the world featuring album critiques and tracks from their first album. They have received positive feedback highlighting the quality of their music, the originality of their sound and positive expectations await the release of their second album. Prog Archives, U.S.A. (29th October 2009), Rock Impressions, Italy (18th August 2009), Merlin Prog, Norway (10th August 2009), Progshine, Brazil ( 29th September 2009), MLWZ, Poland (12th On the 25th of October 2009 the album was nominated for Progawards 2009 in the category of best Debut Album. As a result of this nomination, on November 2009 Atik Maze appears highlighted on the front page of the website “Revista Portuguesa Arte Sonora” and on the website “Onda Culta” the article refers to the nomination for the Prog Awards 2009. In 2009 Atik Maze performed at the following events Sports Gala 2009, Motor Bike Annual Concentration in Quarteira, Youth festival 2009 and the First National Reunion of the Artistic Scenery, where they shared the stage with greats of Portuguese Music. They carried out a small promotional tour of their album in the Department Store Fnac here in Portugal. Tour venues included the Algarve, Alfragide, Cascais and Almada stores. The album The Man Behind The Lock was also listed by specific websites for sale in Italy by the Camelot Club and in France by the Musea Records.
