For years, Atlanta has been home to many inspired individuals who enrich our experiences and everyday lives within the city. The project will serve the purpose of placing faces with the many names. Opening the show and kicking things off is J.R. RUND & THE HOLD UP. Marietta's J.R. Rund is an up and coming singer/songwriter who crafts songs in the vein of such prolific artists as Tom Petty and Ryan Adams. His songs are structured around a classic pop formula, but infused with a country, soul, and gospel sensibility. Notable influence from bands like The Wallflowers, Wilco, and Gram Parsons is evident upon the initial listen.
Following next is a band from Winston-Salem, NC -- CALEB CAUDLE & THE BAYONETS. Independent Weekly describes the band's sound as "The sweet spot between alt.country and roots pop."
The second half of the night strays from the roots-pop/ alt. country/ americana/ folk sound that the previous two bands offer and delves more into the territory of an electro-acoustic type of sound. Atlanta's SONEN takes the stage afterward. Recently receiving the Creative Loafing Reader's Choice Award for "Best Local Indie-Rock Act of Atlanta 2008" and previously obtaining the title of "Best Electronic Artist of 2006" for the same publication, Sonen is quickly becoming one of the city's most promising acts.
Closing out the night is WOVEN, a live electronic band from Los Angeles that takes a variety of influences ranging from Squarepusher, The Notwist, Massive Attack, and Slowdive. Touring in support of their latest release, "Designer Codes" will not disappoint!
