My PICTURE might be smiling, and I smile much of the time; but I am the very disgusted mother of an Iraq war veteran. I'm the wife of a 24-year army veteran 12 years active, 12 years reserves (retired 2006). I'm also co-founder of the Georgia chapter of Military Families Speak Out. My daughter was pronounced "undeployable" by army doctors several months before the start of the Iraq war. She was forced to go anyway. Her story is by no means unique. I believe there are thousands of medically unfit soldiers who are unable to defend themselves properly, and who are possibly a danger to their fellow soldiers. WE TREAT CONVICTED MURDERERS BETTER THAN THAT!!!!!
W. Bush once said that Saddam should be removed from power because "...he tried to kill my deddy" (yep, he said "deddy".) Well, W. Bush tried to kill my daughter, so you can imagine how I feel about HIM. I'm sick of being ignored, tired of being polite, and very weary of being called a nigger by people who say they support the troops, and by the way, who say they are not racist.
This war was started on lies, and is just plain WRONG. We've snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory in Afghanistan because of this dumb detour to Iraq.
Saddam could have been removed from power at the start of the march to Baghdad by a small group of Iraqi dissidents who hated Saddam and asked Bush for the funds to let them do it! The way it has been done is obscene. There is so much loss of innocent life... including Iraqi children and babies.
Why is our government spying on peace activists like ME instead of making it their business to track the known terrorists who have already crossed boldly into this country? Why are we still allowing our soldiers to die for nothing?? Why are we still allowing medically unfit soldiers to be sent into any conflict?? Why are a vast number of returning veterans not given timely access to medical and/or mental care? Why are many returning veterans becoming homeless?? These brave men and women have done everything asked of them, and as far as I'm concerned they have already WON. The ridiculous leadership in the White House has lost, BIG TIME. It's time for our soldiers to come home NOW. WE MUST DO A MUCH BETTER JOB OF TAKING CARE OF THEM!!!!!!!
