What's Atlantropa you ask? Well, Wikipedia says this:
"Atlantropa was a gigantic engineering and colonization project devised by the German architect Herman Sörgel in the 1920s and propagated by him until his death in 1952...
"The ultimate, utopian goal of the project was to solve all the major problems of European civilization by the creation of a new continent, 'Atlantropa'..."
Atlantropa is also the latest musical creation by West MI guitarist and composer Travis Hoogendoorn. The project is his deeply personal attempt to unify his musical and artistic ideals - progression, intent, logic, passion and skill - into one cohesive musical experience. Travis' music, like Sörgel's utopian vision, is an ambitious project on a grand scale. With elements of rock, metal, electronic, classical, and even jazz, Atlantropa borrows from the past to lead it's listeners into the future.
While Atlantropa completes it's debut album, "Antithesis," Travis is actively seeking collaboration with musicians near and far. Specifically, if you are a rock-solid drummer or a keyboardist with an affinity for vintage synthesizers, you should get a hold of him. Or if you simply want some creative consultation on "outside thinking" composition, Travis is your man. He is a believer in the free exchange of musical ideas.
