SHUT THE WORLD OUT? The Punkfactory: "Remember that old-school punk bands? Do you miss them? Well, you don't need to suffer no more, 'cause Atlas Losing Grip come to save you! This release is something refreshing on the Punk scene, but that's nothing new because nordic bands always come out with great works!
Shut The World Out is an album with political basis, no bullshit! We can found some similarities to bands like Pennywise, Anti-Flag (on the lyrics mainly) and also Bad Religion (mainly on the voice). They play a very powerfull music, but the melody is not forgotten; the drums are smashing, the guitars are very versatile and the bass does it's work the best way possible; the voice is the major force behind this machine, main vocals and choirs take us to the middle of a protest, filled with ange! It's magic..."
xroldx.blogspot.com: "You remember that time when you bought a record from Epitaph and you didn't have to listen to it to know it was quality punkrock? The same days when everyone in Sweden seemed to be playing in a hardcore or punkband? When Satanic Surfers, No Fun At All and Millencolin were able to sell out venues? That was the time when I started listening to punkrock and going to shows. It's clear that those days are gone but here comes Atlas Losing Grip with a record that puts me in a timemachine and slings me back to those days.
You can't misinterpret the influence that early Strung Out, Ten Foot Pole and Satanic Surfers must have had on this band. Still 'Shut The World Out' doesn't come over as a relic or as an outdated record. That has to do with the quality of the songwriting, which is great, and the production as well.
What is also good about this release is that most of the songs are very political instead of other typical subject for bands in this genre, being girls, summer and skating. Opener 'Decreasing Development' is about the western world funding civil wars in Africa and 'Tearing International Treaties' is about the US government not participating in climate control.
If this band was around in the mid nineties they would have a bright future ahead of them for sure, still their music and message is as relevant now only the style they play isn't the big thing anymore."
NEW POLLUTION Fanzine: "The first thing that strikes you is the high quality production. "Shut the World Out is a fast paced record that packs plenty of punches. "Nothing has Changed" is a nitro charged track of middle fingered rage that shouts back at the shit the world throws in our faces. It..s an impressive punk album that stands out on it..s own merits" /Warren Smith

"For a few years it seemed like the sunny, melodic type of punk rock that was so populair in the nineties was dying out. Probably it's a bit too soon to speak of a revival now, but lately it seems like there are more and more new bands that go back to that type of music, which I think is a really good thing. Atlas Losing Grip is one of those bands.
These five guys from Sweden play the type of punk rock that's usually referred to as the 'Fat Wreck style' and they do it really well. This album is their first full length release and contains twelve originals plus an Adhesive cover song. It's an album full of fast, catchy and energetic songs with excellent vocals and thick layers of warm Bad Religion-ish backing harmonies.
If you're into bands like Strung Out, Propagandhi, Satanic Surfers and Good Riddance, you can hardly go wrong with this band.

"A punkrock band from Sweden? Ha! What else are they gonna come up with! Seriously though, there used to be a time where it seemed like every band from Sweden (apart from Abba) played this kind of hardhitting punkrock. Just think of Venerea, Millencolin, No Fun At All or Satanic Surfers! Now it’s all rock n roll or hardcore. Luckily there still is a band carrying on with the sound of yore… Atlas Losing Grip. “Shut The World Out” is filled with the kind of punkrock / skatepunk that I listened to nonstop when I first got into this scene. Fast-paced rhythms, shredding guitars and tons of melody and vocal harmonies. These guys would’ve fit right in on the Fat Wreck or Epitaph roster from a decade ago. What? I’m too young to be nostalgic? Fuck it, I like “Shut The World Out”… now where are my baggy pants? Score: 7.5 out of 10"
Go ahead, say it out loud: Punk. While it might technically be a four-letter word, it is no longer a four-letter word in the get-your-mouth-washed-out-with-soap category. And Atlas Losing Grip aren’t anything else but punk. No unnecessary screaming; no white belts and bad haircuts; no awkward mosh parts; this Swedish quintet are simply straightforward, faster-than-the-world punk rock, tailor-made to shred bowls or start circle pits to. And trust us, you’ll want to be doing both after a few spins of their new Ep, Watching the horizon.
Originally formed in early 2005, the first two years a bunch of members were replaced, removed and remembered before the band finally found a lineup that felt solid. Influenced by bands such as Satanic Surfers, Propagandhi, Millencolin,… they’ve recorded their first album in October 2007, produced by Mattias Persson – sound engineer of Satanic Surfers & Venerea and guitarist in Swedish legendary Hardcore/Crust band Kontrovers. The album has been released in 2008 all over Europe trough NoReason Records, Shield Recordings and Dv’s Records, while in Japan through Bells on Records.
The release has been supported by an intense tour all around Europe in 2008/2009.
Recently, Rodrigo Alfaro, leader from the legendary Swedish band SATANIC SURFERS has become the lead singer of the band, replacing Stefan Bratt who now just play the bass.
The new entry has influenced a lot the new way of writing music of the band.
One listen to Watching the horizon affirms that statement. A much more diverse offering than Shut the World out, due to the more melodic voice from Rodrigo and his range of influences, Watching the horizon has songs that are faster than ever, slower than ever, more pissed, and more happy.
As for the experience reached from the drummer Julian, constantly on tour with the most popular Swedish hardcore band Sista Sekunden, giving a touch of power and speed to Rodrigo’s melodies.
Alongside their NoReason Records label-mates This is a standoff, Rentokill and Antillectual, Atlas Losing Grip are doing everything they can to bring back substance over style to the underground.
Watching the horizon signals a milestone for the band, but also a new beginning. The album sounds poignant, impassioned and frankly, important. Punk rock needs songs like the ones Atlas Losing Grip are writing: energetic and in your face while still being meaningful and personal. With Watching the horizon, Atlas Losing Grip haven’t merely made a record — they’ve made a statement.
