AT NO BIKINI BEACH

At No Bikini Beach is an instrumental poprock formation consisting of: Arnold van de Velde (ex-Feverdream) René van Lien (ex-Feverdream, ex-Jimmy Barock) Micha Haring (Elle bandita, Sir Ian) and Jos Hoevenaars (the New Earth Group, Sir Ian.) At No Bikini Beach is about keeping a constant flow with melodic energy. ANBB is fun!

Shortly after At No Bikini Beach was formed in 2004 by Arnold van de Velde and Rene van Lien a perfect drummer was found in Bart Hoevenaars. While the musician plays a different instrument than they’re used to songs are created through intuitive improvisation. During the period with Bart on drums ANBB records 4 songs in collaboration with musician and producer Vincent Matthias van Duin (The New Earth Group). Together with experimental indierock formation the Solo Men Only a short tour was booked through Europe. In Holland many shows were booked in museums, art galleries and squats. In addition ANBB plays the State-X New Forms festival The Hague, Motel Mozaîque Festival Rotterdam and performs a show with Kraut-rock legend Damo Suzuki (Can).

ANBB keeps away from any real genre. A reviewed concert at Vera, Groningen gives a good impression: “At about 23.30 the show starts, and is was surprisingly good! Fortunately cause, as I know these guys very well, it sucks to write a negative review. No really I enjoyed! Very typical post/avant rock. Instrumental, but you don’t miss vocals at any time. It grooved, was original and had a defined face! Don’t let this just be a side-project, guys!”

The New Bikini

In the year 2008 a new drummer was found in Micha Haring (Elle Bandita, Sir Ian). And Arnold starts to write a endless list of songs. After hearing the demo-tapes producer and musician Jos Hoevenaars (a.o. The New Earth Group, Sir Ian) joins the band as producer and 4th musician. With him they record the last 9 songs in first months of 2009. In their own studio, the full control of time and sound make big productivity possible and contribute to the wilfulness of this band.

The result is the full-length album The New Bikini containing 13 catchy instrumental pop songs. This band goes either way, but having a good time making music and keeping a late night groove happening, keeps us going!
