Band members vary from gig to gig and project to project. As most working musicians know these days, especially in Austin, it is wise to have a hand full of drummers, bass players, keyboard players and horn section members. A musical revolving door, so to speak, because you never know when you have a gig come up and one of your regular band members has another gig with another project. For specific information about a specific band or gig on the calendar, send me a message and I will get back to you with details. For the most part, here are the most common players you may find at one of our gigs:
DRUMS: Antone Perez, Mike Gersman or Eddie Flores.
BASS: Franz Schlievert, Chris Downey, Mark Harris, Wash Hamilton, Mike Guerra, Leland Parks or Chip Dill.
VOCALS: Dawn, Antone Perez, Franz Schlievert, Dave Miller, Mike Guerra, Ponty Bone or myself.
KEYS: Mike Gregory, Jack Payne, Howard DeNoble, Billy Young.
SAX: Rich Kinney, Ed Visard, Tom Robinson, Thomas Ramirez, Joseph Sarato, Steve Bernstein, Eddie Olivares Jr.
Trumpet/Brass: Ray Strucker.
Look out for Richard Bowden on violin or Danny Roy Young, The Mayor of South Austin on the frottoir/rub board. They play some gigs with us (Ponty Bone) when they can make it. Always a treat.
You tend to be understated and under appreciated.
You have a hidden force to do amazing things, doing them your own way.
People may see you as strange and shy, but they know little.
Your unconventional ways have more power than they (and even you) know.
Your strength: Standing up for what you know is true
Well they change everyday, for there is always something new, even if it's old, that influences me on a daily basis. I could never include every influence because I simply don't have the time to ponder it all; but since this is the "influences" section, here are a few to chew on:

Howdy Folks and welcome to the Atomic Blues Band page! I am in the process of making some updates to this page. I am back in Austin and working on gigs in this area with Sweet Potato Pie as well as tending to other irons in the fire. So far this year I have been playing with my Blues Farm brothers, Antone Perez and Franz Schlievert under the name, Atomic Blues Farm in the Corpus Christi area. Franz has moved back to Toledo and I am back home as well. There are also many interesting new projects that may come to fruition as well. Only time will tell. Be sure to check out Reverb Nation and their music player below. It contains about 13 songs. It will play all songs all the way through as the myspace music player sometimes cuts songs off short. I wish each and every one of you peace and prosperity this year and every year. May the God or Goddess of your choice be by your side every moment. Peace, Love and Blessings from above people! *NOTE* All original recordings, compositions and arrangements are registered and copywritten! All songs on this page were recorded live off of the mixing board and are not professional studio recording mixes. Please enjoy them as they are... in raw form. Thank you* The Atomic Blues Band is essentially “Sweet Potato Pie” and “Blues Farm” respectively. Our music has often been described as, “Funk-Infused Atomic Blues”, hence the name. The “Atomic Blues Band” page started as a way for friends and family to view pictures/articles, listen to music and view information about upcoming gigs. I include info on any and all projects I am a part of here on this page. Recent projects include, Sweet Potato Pie, Sarah Fox and Joel Guzman, The Regulars, Spencer Thomas, Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones, El Tule, Guitar Shorty, Reno and the Groove Getters and various gigs with many other Texas musicians. They include: Silent Slim and the Locomotives, Blues Farm, Aloha Dave and the Tourists, Sweet Potato Pie, The Michael O'Connor Group, Mike Guerra, Hambone Stew, DuneBilly, Dave "Bottle-Head" Miller, Kingfish, Rudolph Llanes, Dede Priest/Mike Milligan and the Altar Boys, Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones, Sarah Fox and Joel Guzman, Guitar Shorty & Spencer Thomas.
I have had the honor of sharing the bill with Chris Duarte, Doyle Bramhall Sr., The Birds, Rick Derringer, Screaming Cheetah Wheelies, Johnny Lang, Joan Jett and many others as well as being the backing band for the legendary Bo Diddly and Pinetop Perkins. In March of 2007 I had the honor and privilege of playing guitar @ Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago with the Legendary, W.C. Handy award winner Guitar Shorty. Currently my main projects are Atomic Blues Band/Sweet Potato Pie/Blues Farm, Joel Guzman & Sarah Fox/. It has been a spell since playing with Spencer Thomas & Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones but they are still rocking the scene. ***
Sweet Potato Pie, which includes, Dawn Marie on vocals, are currently looking for a bass player and drummer. Aside from my good friend Ish (currently on the road with Los Lonely Boys), my lovely and talented daughter, Faith Hannah, whom I miss & love more than words can express, are my guitar techs. The best way I can describe our music is, "funky-jumpin', reefer-swingin', psychedelic, soulful blues... with a jam band twist at times". ***
Sarah Fox and Joel Guzman are Grammy award winning artists. They were formerly known as Aztex and were members of Los Super Seven. They are phenomenal musicians and song writers. Their latest release, “Latinology” is a fabulous blend of Latin, Soul, R&B, Funk, Reggae and Afro-Cuban flavors as well as true Americana. I love this band. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. It is Grammy material indeed! ***
Ponty Bone is a Texas legend who needs no introduction or description, but for those of you who don't know, P.B. & the Squeezetones play a mix of Cajun/Zydeco, blues and Mexican music. Ponty has played with many other Texas legends. Check him out @ http://www.myspace.com/pontyboneandthesqueezetones or @ pontybone.com. ***
Spencer Thomas is a fabulous singer, songwriter and former front-man of The Solid Senders (featuring the late, great Keith Ferguson on bass), The Big Pow Wow, Pat Boyack & The Prowlers, King Soul, and The Rev. Ben T. & The Well Kept Secrets. ***
I am working on a solo adventure as well. There are new songs on the way from Sweet Potato Pie and the Atomic Blues Band. We are currently seeking funding and backing for studio efforts and bookings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.***
So far, any project I am in can be part of the Atomic Blues Band experience when the vibe is just right and the extemporaneous grooves are flowing free. I would like to express my deepest appreciation, respect and love to all of my friends, peers and family that have made it possible for me to make music. I encourage you to help keep music and fine arts in our schools. Do your part at your local level. Hold on to what few Constitutional Rights and Freedoms we still have left. Power 2 the People! Rastaman Vibration Positive! Get sent... Not bent. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised... It Will Be Live! Peace, Love and Prosperity.

Last week state Rep. Wayne Christian pulled a sly move in the legislature and created an exception to the Texas Open Beaches Act that allows him and his neighbors on Bolivar Peninsula to build houses on the PUBLIC BEACH.
This is bad news. We have a campaign to convince Texas Governor Rick Perry to veto this bad bill.
This is very simple and your email could make the difference.
All you have to do is send an email--- to: greg.davidson@governor.state.tx.us
