When we began in the year of 1999, we decided that it was the time to change our approach and focus in the Hardcore Scene. Already enrolled in this scene for a few years through playing in bands like Full Effect, Judas 23, and Oposição, the time came to connect our spirituality with the music we would make. In this way and in this context was born the Atonement.
In little time, we released an EP called "In Search of Real Things" and the wheel started to spin. Travels throughout the Brazilian Southeast states (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte) became constant for many shows, as well as giving our support to internationally known bands like Catharsis (USA), Figure Four (Canada), Heaven Shall Burn (Germany), and to our national friends from Dead Fish and Confronto.
After that, the years ran by, we recorded a demo "7 Canções Devocionais" (Seven Devotional Songs) in 2006 that has seven Portuguese versions of music from the EP and some unknown. Changes have happened since but the band and its purpose are still alive... more than ever.
Singing in English since the beginning, the musical influences are of 90's Hardcore and bands like Strongarm, Shai Hulud, Earth Crisis, and Poison the Well.
The lyrics thematic approach is to spiritual themes with personal applications, and we can say that it follows similar models of some bands like Unashamed, Shelter, or Bad Brains.
Now with the launching of the 1st Full Length titled, "Devotion", the band takes an important step to reach the horizons that weren't tamed before.
To play and go on tour for places that haven’t been visited yet, to expose the spirituality that is in the lyrics to all hearing persons, and to see what can come of all this.

Quando entrou o ano de 1999, nós decidimos que era hora de mudarmos a nossa abordagem e abrangência dentro do Hardcore. Já ativos a alguns anos dentro da cena, e passando por bandas relevantes como Full Effect, Judas 23 e Oposição, era chegada a hora de conectarmos nossa espiritualidade com a música que faríamos. Assim e neste contexto nasceu o Atonement.
Com pouco tempo lançamos um EP chamado "In Searh of Real Things", e a roda começou a girar. As viagens pelos estados do Sudeste Brasileiro (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte) se tornaram constante para inúmeros shows, bem como o apoio a bandas Internacionalmente renomadas como Catharsis (EUA), Figure Four (Canada) e Heaven Shall Burn (Alemanha), e com os amigos e nacionais Dead Fish e Confronto.
Os anos passaram, gravamos a demo "7 Canções Devocionais" em 2006, que conta com 7 versões em português de algumas musicas do EP e algumas inéditas. Mudanças aconteceram mas a banda e seu propósito permanecem vivos... mais do que nunca.
Cantando em Inglês desde seu início, as influências musicais do Hardcore dos Anos 90 e de bandas como Strongarm, Shai Hulud, Earth Crisis e Poison the Well são claras.
A temática das letras abordam temas espirituais, com aplicações pessoais, e podemos dizer que segue o modelo de algumas bandas como Unashamed, Shelter ou Bad Brains.
Agora com o lançamento do 1º Full Lenght entitulado "Devotion", a banda dá um passo importante para alcançar os horizontes que ainda não foram desbravados.
Tocar e excursionar por lugares ainda não visitados, expor a espiritualidade que contêm às letras a todos que tiver ouvidos, e ver o que acontece depois de tudo isso.
