Atoness started as an electronic-bedroom-antics type affair until we finally took our pop/rock songs hidden in fucked up beats and synths to the live stage. We have been gigging for over a year now and have gained a great following and reputation. We were recently nominated for Best Live Act, Best Newcomers and Best Frontman at the Soundaloud music awards. A good description of us was given by The Plug - "Atoness have developed a schizophrenic mix of electro, rock and pop fusion, mixing crunching guitars and electronica to achieve their unique sound".
We recorded our first album early 2006 at Sepial Studios.

”Accapellian, Surf, Mariachi, Psych Post-Rock anyone? This is a special mish mash of styles that somehow more than holds itself together to produce an often quite brilliant album. Very good indeed...” Jumbo Records
"Liking this CD album by Gyppos. It seems to be the work of four chaps from the Sheffield region and is comprised of lo-fi indie pop, skewed bluegrass, quirky skiffle & schizoid folk-rock. There's a small bit of them that initially reminds me of old Chicago band 5ive Style but also (musically) Half Man Half Biscuit, fellow Steel City-ers Champion Kickboxer & Bristol's enigmatic Safetyword. Lots of curious guitar dueling, loose pattering drums & eccentric freestyling. It's all really intimate & damn entertaining but most importantly there's a gorgeous homely soul about them being apparent from the intermittent warm parping brass & down at heel vocals. They sound like a chilled bunch who'd I'd most certainly make the effort to catch live. Possibly fans of the likes of early Beta Band, Hood & I, Ludicrous could all find something to fall in love with on this album......'Bold Ambler' is CD only thru Flaming Oh." Norman Records

Stars In Their Eyes returns to Sheffield on 23rd December at West Street Live. After the success of last year’s event Seaweed Biscuit is hosting another night of stars and fun!
This year we have 10 excellent artists from a wide range of genres, a fabulous band and a beautiful Matthew Kelly.
Doors will be 8pm Entry will be a measley £2 with all proceeds going to the Salvation Army.
At this time of year the idea of family is pushed upon many but not everyone has this luxury.
The Salvation Army are there for those people who need help.
The Salvation Army (http://www1.salvationarmy.org.uk) feed and house thousands of people every day, look after the elderly, young people, disabled, poor, visit prisoners, have drop-in-centres, nurseries, help people trace family members, look after women who have escaped from domestic abuse, support the emergency services in major disasters, house victims of drug and alcohol abuse, have community homes for children, centres for people with special needs and employment training centres to help people get back on their feet.
So come down to West Street Live next Sunday and enjoy the night knowing at the same time you are helping to make someone's Christmas better than it would have been.
