About me: I've been painting since I was able to do so. I had licensed my artwork and designs for 30+ years (full bio below). In 1997 my fiance was killed. I stopped painting. It's time for me to paint with joy, giggling and abandon again.
Through the 80’s and 90’s B Brent Atwater was a highly licensed, collected, exhibited, televised, and
widely sold American photo-realistic, and impressionistic artist. As a child, she was in the pioneer educational program NC Gifted Students (1-12). At age 16, she was in the pioneer NC Governor's School for the Gifted in Art, and the North Carolina Museum of Art chose one of her paintings for their permanent collection. "PBS" did a TV program on her artwork, and she has been featured on TV's "PM Magazine" in a national special, on "Crook and Chase" & interviewed on numerous TV and radio shows. Her work has been in many major national magazines ("W", "Town & Country", "Robb Report", et al) and newspapers.
Her artwork and designs for Shaw rugs, FS Schumacher, Waverly, Neiman Marcus, Orvis, Domestications, Pot Pourri, USGA, Horchow, JC Penney's, etc, are seen in many national catalogues and retail stores.
Today Atwater intuitively and clairvoyantly narrates and documents life’s affects and effects on and about her
subjects. Her brush strokes, painterly styles and color palettes are her subject's emotional vocabulary;
broad, bold and explosive, tender, sensitive and genteel, heartfelt and nourishing, mischievous giggles
and spontaneous, passionate, vital and intense.
Brent's award winning art compels and seduces your emotions into a palpable experience with her
subject matter; sometimes beautiful or fragile, at times haunting or humorous with attitude, most times
healing, inspiring or profound, and always thought provoking! Her paintings mirror the spirit and soul of
her subjects, creating intimacy, personal awareness, and shared experiences within each viewer. The
enticing energy, evocative coloration, and diversified styles of her paintings make Brent's art highly sought
after by patrons and collectors around the globe.
She graduated with an Art Degree from Hollins University in Roanoke VA, and received her NC
teaching certification.
Brent attended Wake Forest University Law School and is a non denominational ordained minister.
She was listed in Who's Who of Law Students, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who in American Art, and on President Clinton's Mental Health Council.
I also am an art medicine, art for health pioneer by creating Paintings that Heal, scientifically documented healing benefits. www.PaintingsthatHeal.com
