Aubrey is noted for being the BB King of the steel guitar. We are a soulful band that incorporates traditional, rythm & blues, urban, and roots tones to create our own style using the lap steel, bass guitar, hammond organ, tambourine, and percussion. We take our audiances to church in a new dimentional way that is most definitely, undeniably UNFORGETTABLE!
Aubrey V. Ghent is a native of Fort Pierce, Florida, now living in Nashville, Tn. His interest in the steel guitar began at age six and he began to play publicly at age nine. His father, Henry Nelson, played the steel guitar for more than fifty years and was Aubrey’s greatest influence and inspiration. His Uncle Willie Eason, better known as "Little Willie and his Talking Guitar" introduced the lap steel to the House of God Churches in the early 1940's and thus is recognized as the "Father of Gospel Steel". Even though the steel guitar is usually associated with country-western and Hawaiian music, Aubrey has taken the steel to a whole new level with his unique gospel style and highly skillful techniques. He is a virtuoso steel guitarist that is known for his ability to quickly bring any congregation or audience to religious ecstasy. His performance is electrifying! When playing hymns he makes his guitar moan soulfully, and causes it to soar with voice-like tones and melodies (like that of the best gospel singers) on upbeat and contemporary selections. His precision is incredibly masterful. He is renowned for his steel guitar music and style and has well earned national acclaim as a Master Steel Guitarist. He is noted by all of his peers as being the most expressive steel player among them. Once you witness Aubrey Ghent’s phenomenal performance, your impression of the (lap) steel guitar will never be the same! It's music you can feel! Your experience will definitely be UNFORGETTABLE!
The Aubrey Ghent Band is noted for being a soulfully traditional, high energy gospel jam band. It's sound is a cut above the rest because of it's unique blend of hammond organ, steel guitar, bass guitar and drums which creates authentic quality tones that engulf the soul. Aubrey and Lori are the lead vocalists and do background ..ions when they are not leading. Larrice Byrd and Julius Fisher are two of the best tenors around with outstanding range and abilities. The band takes you to church in a way that you most likely have never experienced and will definitely never forget!

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
