"The musicians of Auda unconsciously summon up ghosts of forgotten ambitions towards the epic of the early 80s, a result akin to Talk Talk's Mark Hollis fronting the Bunnymen." - East Magazine
Auda consists of four talented musicians, each of whom brings something different and new to the music that “originates from itself”.
All music has been recorded and edited in Baza's garage.
Kris (Kris Sidery) - Vocals, guitar, lyrics, optimism.
This young man was born on May 27th in 1988 somewhere in the far north of the UK (he couldn't tell you where) and spent most of his life moving from place to place until finally settling in Hastings. Hailing from a very musical background it is surprising that he isn't an exceptional musician. Yet a basic knowledge of guitar and a unique voice seems to be all that he needs to progress. He found the band through myspace, saw that they needed a vocalist and demanded that they have him. A natural born writer, he spends his time writing short stories and poems (not to mention the occasional song lyric).
Baza (James Barrow) - Drums, effects, mixing. Born on the 1st September 1988, Baza has been playing drums since he was 11 but only started playing fully when he left boarding school in 2005. He's been living in Eastbourne since then and enjoying the freedom. Baza has always been an inspirational drummer and likes trying out different styles and beats. Well, the same thing is boring. He's also a bit of a techno-freak, does recording and is a wiz with computers. Baza finally joined the band after being badgered by Matt for so long and has never looked back.
Markus (Mark Hampson) - Guitar, Keyboard. Tuned to the visual arts and the guitar, Mark had been writing music long before Auda formed. Born in High Wycombe on April 5th 1989, where he delved for much of his life, until he moved down to Bexhill on Sea in the summer of 2000. Mark began to write his own music as soon as he picked up the guitar, and after a bit of luck he met up with Matt on one steamy summers day of 2006 and Sui Generis was born.
Tony (Antony Mears) - Bass, synthwah Born in Eastbourne hospital on the 26th of April 1991. He has lived in Bexhill all his life. The youngest member of the band. He had played guitar in a couple of musical projects previously, but since stepping in as temp bass player for a time he decided bass was his way forward and hasn’t looked back. He’s had a pretty musical upbringing and is addicted to playing live. He loves mark because he loves his sister, he loves Kris for the fact that he is the only person who can shout "banzai" out of a car without being told to f*** off and he loves Baza because they have a Stargate connection.
