Sounds Like
Sounds like a DJ set, but it isn't; it's a live band with all the immediacy and organic feel of one.
AudioBraille is a music Collective that works with many differnet musicians and started out with Joel and Zori playing ocean on the beach with other percussionists like Vicente Ponciano and a great circle of much talent. Ken Restivo joined us with his sun powered music truck. We played with Paul the bike rapper at a few events, then Kate Pittard of sax renown (Pleasuremaker Band) joined us. One night, we were playing and Radio Active came out of nowhere off the street and started Beltin out some truth at a small neighborhood venue we were playin at that night; Mojo Cafe neighborhood coffee and grooves and bikes. Samples of many shows can be heard at audibraillemusic.com. The musicians who started audiobraille are as follows: Joel Elrod is well-known as part of the Thursday night Afrolicous party institution at Elbo Room and the Pleasuremaker band. Zori is an accomplished Latin percussionist who plays loops the old-fashioned way: with her bare hands. Ken Restivo is a New York born-and-bred funky keyboardist with a jazzy sound and homegrown software, who also lays down the bass at the same time. and Kate Pittard is an accomplished jazz saxophone player and vocalist. Joining them are a cast of many guest musicians, singers, and rappers. AudioBraille feels it out as they go along, delivering custom, one-of-a-kind entertainment every night, to add to your dancing/drinking/dining enjoyment.
Currently Audiobraille is playing at Amelie with the line up of David Boyce (Sax), Wendell Rand( bass), Zori and Joel Every Sunday evening from 6-10
