R.I.P. Audiogene.
Formed in 1999 by Johnny Crawford (lead vox/rhythm guitar), Christian Finn (drums/backing vocals) and Tim Walker (bass). A three piece from Stourbridge in the West Midlands, the band was originally called Bottlerockit.
Between 1999 and 2002, Bottlerockit saw the release of their first Ep, Angel On A Vespa, and debut Album entitled One Small Step. In 2000, the line up had its first change when Mark Bowater joined the band on bass guitar.
In 2002, Johnny Crawford asked Daniel Peterson to move from Australia to London and take the new role of lead guitarist. Now a four piece with both Johnny and Daniel writing together, the resulting change was enough to warrant a new name too. Becoming Audiogene, the evolve took them from pop/punk, to a grungier, fully charged rock, catchy-hook-laden melodies from Johnny Crawford still in full prominence.
Signing a production deal with Rocket Boy Records in 2002, the band went on to record their first release as Audiogene, entitled Ag EP. Following the EP, a full album was recorded which remains to this day untitled, unmastered and unreleased! You can hear four of the unreleased tracks (Solo, Cannon Ball, Nothing Disease and Take Me Away) above, exclusively on this page for the first time ever!
The band's travels took them all over the UK and Ireland as well as mainland Europe. They opened for Idlewild, Imogen Heap, The Boxer Rebellion, Mel C, Four Star Mary, The Beatings, Switchfoot and Clarkesville... But sadly, Audiogene are no more, serving their final performance in 2004. Long live the songs and the many lasting memories!
Today... Daniel Peterson, now a solo artist, is set to include one of the unreleased Audiogene songs on his forthcoming debut album. As he says, "My all-time favourite Audiogene song was 'Solo', written By Johnny, myself and the producers. I have always had in my mind to record it again and keep the Audiogene love alive! It just has to happen!" Click here to see what Daniel is up to...

Dear Everyone,
Unfortunately, the rumours are true and all good things must come to an end. Audiogene have decided to wind things down and disband after almost 3 years. We've had a really good stab at making this band happen with the help of a lot of dedicated people along the way, which we'd like to thank from the bottom of our hearts.... you know who you are. Coincidentally, we feel that last weeks NME announcement of the Beta Band split has also described our situation perfectly.... 'The Audiogene apple has over ripened and become riddled with maggots, it must fall from the tree and let its seeds return to the ground.'
Your support and enthusiasm has been gratefully received and there is no doubt that we would not have had such an exciting journey without you... the fans, the friends and the family.
We love you all.
God Bless.
Johnny, Christian and Daniel.
