Dark ethereal ambient grooves revolving around majestic ethnic tribal rhythms, churning thunder echoing in the iron grip of infectious space hooks in a NYC alley.
AUDIOPIUM, made up of multicultural members, play's a wide dynamic range of venues; from the ambient quietude of cafe's, and to rocking Artopium's festival at the Vortex, the Texas Roller Girls Cinco de Maya festival, indoor and out door events such as SPACE DUB ‘til RUBY DAWN (RAVE). AUDIOPIUM like the Funky Meters and the JBs is easy to listen to and danceable. Grounded in the traditional roots of Acid Jazz, Afro-Dub, and Highlife (an uplifting mix of Euro - Western blues and jazz motifs, played on guitar and horn over African rhythms, made popular by King Sunny Ade) is original, cutting edge and experimental, yet highly accessible and dance oriented. AUDIOPIUM’S Funk - Soul - Jazz - Reggae – Ska – Space Dub is filled with original melodies and highly accessible grooves, rhythms, break beats and polyrhythm. AUDIOPIUM is a sibling duo, trance-fusion ensemble born of improvisational instrumentalists, writing and performing mostly original music with its ranks expanding, as does "Massive Attack", and the Cinimatic orchestra to feature various special guest artists. The whole joint was inspired by years of study with West African Tribal Drum Masters, Space Dub (derived from Reggae) King Tubby, and Adrian Sherwood (of the once industrial dub band "Tackhead Sound System" and now "African Head Charge", who performs on the mix board as if it’s musical instrument) in 2005. Dtune's ethereal guitar licks draw on studies with experimental classical composers and his scoring for film. Dtune (Founder of AUDIOPIUM, producer and session player for: Sage Siddhah, Daniel Llanes, MCO band, Ruta Maya house band, MC Shake Da Preachamun, Black Ribbon, Small Box, Life of Sport, ZN noyzwerks, Lannaya and That Eternal Desire) who has been compared to David Gilmore (of Pink Floyd), Robert Fripp, Fred Frith, Reese (of David Bowie’s “Tin Machine”), Jazz legends: Al Dimiola, Pat Metheny and Sun Ra) paired with the legendary muted trumpet stylings of Sound Dr. Victoria Esperanza: “Playing trumpet is how I spread my love”. (Seven Seals, Diasporic, Big Chief Kevin, D. Madness), emit inspired melodies which elude to, many familiar dance inducing riffs, work around a scafold of percussion, keyboard and Live Remix by Pailo on kit and hand percussion. AUDIOPIUM alludes to and interpolates many familiar dance-inducing motifs as a foundation that combines with stellar melodies to evoke such memorable praises and comparative compliments such as:It was awesome and an unusual jam both. D Tune on guitar, Eku on horn, Chuck and Andy sharing drums/congas playing similar to Miles Davis/Chic Chorea/Return To Forever. It wasn't exactly blues for awhile but fantastic in itself. Michael and L.C. Parker joining in on bass and slide with some harping by Russell Bissett. It was jazz meets the blues. Then turnabout with some blues tunes by Michael and L.C. with the jazz men then mixing it in. An unusual but fun time.- Peace, Breck ... "Miles Davis's Bitches Brew meets Return to Forever" ... "You sound like a NYC ally" - Poet Dillon Mcaenzy, "Your CD and live the sound quality is like those "beat & sample" discs that DJ's buy" ... "You sound good, very professional, with funky energy". – The legendary Mrs. Laval White, "Experiencing AUDIOPIUM is like dancing to an action film sound track" "I received a telepathic transmission from your guitar solo" ... "You play with feeling" ... "You took me somewhere"... "I didn't like or respect electronic music until I saw you guys tonight, because I can see there's some serious musicianship going on". - Dutch Pink of Black Molly..."Hi! This is Diantha, who sang with AUDIOPIUM at the Three Tides on your North East tour, just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and memories of singing with you are like remembering paradise. Seriously, from someone who hasn't done drugs in years, I forgot what being high can be like. Please keep up the beautiful creative work" ... "I was really getting into the song "ALLIFE" and I really liked your guitar sound at the 3 Tides gig, by the way, it was a while before I became aware of it as separate from the overall blend, but was fascinated by the particular voice you were using, sort of scratchy and chiming, almost like an electrified dulcimer. - Lucinda B. Although AUDIOPIUM’s ranks are made of producers and studio musician’s “We’re our favorite band”.

Respect! Very very cool stuff you have going on here. Love the tunes. Like it like it liiiiike it. Great taste and what flavour! I thought you might like to know that I have posted new videos for new fusion mixes. One is a radical combo of Sex Dwarf by Soft Cell (of course) and adding a dollop of Missy Elliott. Rebooted, filtered, shaken, cut, pasted and smashed with a great hammer and deconstructed. The latest features Coldplay and Kraftwerk and you can see it below. Oh and if that's not enough there's a new tune called Scooby Mama which moulds Fun Lovin Criminals to a Scissor Sisters. If yo feet don't move yo dead. There's more fusion mix foolishness on the myspace which is being updated with new tunes and vids regularly. Thanks again for the add and your interest. Love and Peace. Sex Dwarf. And remember...don't do genre.
