Germanys rock band Audiosmog formed in 1999,
originally comprised of singer/guitarist Andre Schön,
second guitarist Rene Berndt, drummer Holger Ilm, and bassist Niels Goldau.
Debuting on an independent label with “Meaning of this feeling”,
the band was quickly snapped up by major label BMG. Changing drummer to Mark Lehmkuhl, Audiosmog toured relentlessly in the months to follow,
recording a series of songs collected in 2001 as TOP OF THE ROCKS.
When the song “Daylight in your Eyes" became a national hit thanks
to steady airplay on German TV station VIVA, the group's profile grew considerably,
and TOP OF THE ROCKS sold in excess of 50,000 copies.
The band appeared on many national TV and Radio station and every released single from
this album entered at least Germanys Top 30 chart. After two years of touring
in Germany and playing many stages in Germany the band released several
different versions of their debut album in other European countries. Biggest success of these idea was an regular engagement in Disneyland Resort France in 2004.
The following years the band toured all over Europe and played together
with many international stars like PINK, NATURAL BORN HIPPIES, RIGHT SAID FRED, SCOOTER, H-BLOCKX, NO ANGELS on big festivals in front of more than 50.000 spectators. In Summer 2005 they released their last single “Dragostea Din Tei”.
After a 2 years break the band announced their live return in 2008 on Baltic Beach Party in Liepaja. After playing 10 times in Latvia and already 3 times on this festival the band felt compelled to do something very special for their fans in Latvia.
So the idea of performing and recording some brand new material from some Latvian artists in their well known rock style was born. The band released a duet with DJ Ella – “Shine like a Superstar” and a new version of the A-Eiropa song “Tuvuma Taluma”.
In 2009 the band will return to Latvia to perform once again on BBP. The song “Pokerface” was also released on www.doremi.lv.
