Rock/Jazz/Funk Fusion with some Reggae, Classic Rock and that overall Jam Band feel. Red Hot Chili Peppers meets Blind Melon meets BUTTERJIVE!!!!...ish.
Audius was originally founded by Mario Machado, Jeremy Holmes, Kyle Fell, and Elliot Oplinger in the summer of 2000. Although they produced raging tunes, Kyle had a problem with breaking his arm a lot, so he sold his bass guitar to Darren McGillicuddy who took up where Kyle left off, and they moved on to bigger and better things. After three songs, Elliot left the band, and Kayla Angstadt came in to add lead vocals. They made many a beautiful tune, all of which have been fortunately lost to oblivion and are only ever revisted among bouts of much laughter and shame. Eventually, Kayla's many extracurricular activities conflicted with the band, and she and Audius went separate ways. Jack Stanley soon joined, bringing the band to its present-day formation. And that's pretty much it. We spend lots of time experimenting with different types of music, including rock, jazz, funk, reggae and everything in between. Jeremy has a heavy prog rock/funk influences on drums which mesh well with Darren's funk/slap/Chili-Pepper like bass. Jack brings most of his classic rock influence to the table on guitar (which makes for some sweet soloing) and Mario adds a Jazz/Rock aspect with guitar and vocals as well. The mix is a very unique and dynamic sound and the guys in the band are excited to continue making music and experimenting with new sounds. Some interesting results came during an Spring 2007 jam session when Jack piped up the good old Cello, with Mario reciting Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem "Annabelle Lee" and Jeremy brought up the rhythm with some bongos. They continue to evolve in their sound and combine their unique influences. Look for Audius in the future, wherever they may be rockin' and jammin'.
I finally got the album from homie and its amazing, great job guys! I hear you might play some shows next summer so i can't wait, i'm definitely going!
By the way, was Butterjive at musikfest? i think they we're but i could me mistaken

K so i was at track today doing our speed workout (6x400's). on the 4th-ish one i got to the end and someone had brought down a boombox and a cd was playing... im like hmm this sounds familiar but i couldnt figure out why i knew it. My thought process was like "hmm is it something my brother listens to?... Is it something i heard with ben?"(my boyfriend) then all the sudden im like OOHHHH THIS IS AUDIUS duhhh.
It was pretty exciting, I have to say.
oh and i heard the irish drinking song... wowww that was awesome haha.
Sorry we didn't make it to the concert. I got the CD and it kicks ASS!! Give me permission to send that out to more people. Darren that pic u made for us is FUCKIN SICK I love it, i bet any money u were ripped when u made it.

Yeah I can't this weekend. Maybe round Easter or something. I've got work this weekend. ughh oh did I tell you? I finally got rid of my broken casette player and installed a 1981 8 track player in its place. how awesome is that?
Awesome 2 songs. on the first one, that was Jack on vocalls right? At first I thought it was Mario, but then I was like naw... had to be Jack. and btw, I really liked the funky guitar in the second one.
