About me:
The consummate psuedonisticmusictechnophilosoph that has crawled out from under a rock in the garden that is the web… Opine digital-word; analogue-colour! Lessig is right keep culture “free” …Musings… Fave saying of a dead white bloke: The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them. –GBS … I ask: Is tech speak really just a post-vernacular discourse modulation protocol? I muse over tea is the world really a better place since the microprocessor-based SAC has taken the place of torque-driven analog acoustomechanical circadian regulators? Does the world suffer having far too many choices for mediated anthropoid wakefulness induction? I guess percussive generated fixed-pitch harmonic auditory-stimulus--production mechanisms are things of the past… What are worse fashion statements earbuds or Bluetooth headsets? Will habitual terrestrial earbud user/listeners suffer the ills of long-term hearing loss? Will the end result mean that in the future some will profit from the manufacturing of chips we can embed in our cochlea to mitigate the 3k bump? Hmmm, getting melodramatic I am. Have we evolved? And what is noise (my own being aud) but, all sounds tempered or not arranged upon the same canvas especially those with no semblance of scale in fact noises, Ode to Noise! Noise is the most complained about constant in the history of music. We can only imagine Wagner, Berlioz as the damned for being noisy and of course, the Mozarts and Handels before… Maybe that Orpheus bloke was torn to shreds by the washerwomen at the river because of the awful noise that came from his lyre… why? Perhaps they wanted sublime silence… A discourse of what constitutes noise will always be irrelevant. Is the question does noise when familiar fall into intelligible forms and impressive contents? Sometimes it takes many listenings of the same program to break meaning. Exposure? Assumptions & expectations rule the day thus, they govern feelings which we think our spontaneous & truthful. Alas, sensibility is much more complex… so let I suggest explicitly and bring to your conscious notice: to indulge in what may seem to be noise and, do not impart judgment until the truth is found. Albeit, it may take a few exposures to find the truth. Sounds of all sorts should be honored. All creatures sentient or nonsentient is the Buddha. Each being is at the center of the universe, and creation a mulplicity of centers. It was Schoenberg who emancipated dissonance. Cage through (not the Hollywood boffin) his disturbances and astonishments with a soup of mixed media, performance and social philosophy. And, of course, Eno with his influential ambiance, fusions, and vertical colour of sound … All hail My Life in the Bush of Ghosts~ Embrace noise! It was Hegal that said: “…in the tone music forsakes the element of external form. For musical expression… only the inner life of the soul that is wholly devoid of an object…This is entirely empty ego the self with out further content…. The fundamental task of music will therefore consist in giving a resonant reflection, not objectivity in its ordinary material sense, but to the mode and modifications under which the most intimate self of the soul, from the point of view of its subjective life and ideality is essentially moved… The tones merely resound in the depths of the soul, which are thereby seized upon in the heir ideal substance and suffused with emotion. It is precisely this sphere, the intimacy of soul-life, the abstract appropriation of its own reality, which is grasped by music.” I submit in this age of “in the box” for some, where all is manipulatable and nothing is beyond reproach, the same holds true for noise found or contrived. All is art, all is beauty. ode to aud :-/ More Musings: The pub landlord rules! -Pro Tools: the mix bus sounds great through my Neve -Steinberg: what the fuck happened to you? -Sonar: time has been good to you -Live: awesome, awesome, awesome -DP: don’t get the respect it deserves- -Props for props- -Dangerous: now that’s some good noise- -Korg: CHAOS rules! -Adams: the best!- -Saxonia: German precision- Go SPL before play with your big knob- Liquid channel:too much- Duende:the sound is classic the UI could use some modernization- -RME: worth the extra quid- -64bit don’t mean shit on the dance floor- -Wavelab rules- Focusrite: RED!- TOFT: great stuff- Apogee:little brittle w/o nuts- Benchmark:solid-*** Wedlock is like a dongle*** +Mac still got it over PC+ Macbooks awesome, and you can you warm your tea on them too--Windows: why can’t you remember I already installed via that USB port already!- Mac towers: what you say I did not catch that, the fan is ON…- Robin Trower deserves more!- Jobs: Brilliant! Create a culture that hates Gates, that pays a premium for superior technology? while YOU profit from the biggest proprietary scheme ever devised…. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my mac, I just hate Apple!-- Ipod: freepass on this one… wait a minute, I got rid of my vinal for cassette because it was better, then to CD cuz it sounds better, now you want me to drop my CDs for inferior sound quality… BRILLIANT!
