To list all the styles of music and different artists that I'm influenced by would take up this whole page. I can't help but be influenced by a beautiful melody, a heart grabbing lyric, or a singers voice that gives me goosebumps, no matter the style or genre. I'm captivated by artists like Julie London, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, KT Tunstall, Diana Krall, James Brown, Al Green, The Beatles, Carole King, Otis Redding, James Taylor, Eva Cassidy, Bonnie Raitt, and the list could go and on.
I figured the best way for you to get to know me is if I wrote this as informally as I possibly can. But first here are some random things:
Iced lattes= yum. However, I have to go with the half-cafe kind because the full version makes me spaz out...
I love traveling and stumbling upon random boutiques and coffee shops. One of my favorite cities has to be New York; it's a very inspiring place.
I think I may be addicted to Target because I go there at least twice a week. Does that seem like a problem to you? My friends think so, but they're just as guilty as I am of it.
Here's the rest of the story...
I spent most of my childhood living off the coast of Georgia on a small island called St. Simons. Spending almost every day on the island's white beaches with my mother created the most amazing childhood. I come from a very artistic family; my dad is a professional photographer and my mom is a painter, so it only seems fit that I would become a singer-songwriter. My mom always loved music, and as a little girl, the sounds of Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon filled our home. At around the age of 8, I started writing lyrics and poems, and began to get lost in the whole creative writing experience. I would take my "Play Skool" tape recorder and record myself singing melodies I made up with my lyrics.
Fast-forward... I moved to Nashville with my family before my freshman year of high school. During high school, I performed in talent shows and school plays and continued writing songs. Living in Nashville was extremely rewarding for my musical journey. I was surrounded by one of the greatest songwriting communities in the world, so I couldn't help but be greatly influenced by the creative energy that enveloped the city. At 16, my dad bought me a guitar for Christmas. He had always encouraged me to be a singer-songwriter and to learn how to play the guitar. I feel very blessed to have such a great support team around me.
From that point on, I wrote, wrote, and wrote. In the beginning, most of the songs weren't great, but as I continued, I became more comfortable with myself as a writer and started to discover who I was as an artist. I developed my own style very naturally, and continued to work hard at writing songs that would stay with people.
After graduating high school, I went to Belmont University where I met Patrick Lochridge. We were in a communications class together, and through our friendship, we both discovered we each were involved with music and we began developing a musical relationship. Patrick quickly introduced me to his friend Ben Cameron, a guitarist and singer from Connecticut with a voice that fit perfectly with my own.
From there I started playing shows in front of friends and family in tiny clubs at first, working hard to gain some experience and grow a fan base. The hard work has started paying off, which has led to playing in some amazing venues in cities such as New York and Atlanta.
So, to all of you who have become part of this fan base community and have come out to the shows and have supported this music, thank you! It means so much to know that this music means something to you. I look forward to seeing you all at future shows!
Love, Audrey
Once in a great while a moment passes by that shouldn’t be forgotten, a moment that makes believers out of the most stubborn doubters. I wish this moment to be that one magical, special instant in time when you know beyond all doubt that you have all you need to succeed!
