The Singer and songwriter Augusto Pitta was Born in Vitória, state capital of Espírito Santo, in the southeast of Brazil. His only capixaba (one Who is Born in Vitória is called capixaba) was the singer and songwriter Roberto Carlos. He moved to Salvador, state capital of Bahia, at early age and ended up being raised there. At age 12, He learned how to play the acoustic guitar and wrote his first song when He was 22 years old. Pitta participated in the Bank Employees Festival of Salvador in 1984 with the song Flor Mulher (Flower Woman). In April of 1985, He performed at the opening of a show by Fábio Paes e Carlos Pitta at the Institute of Languages of UFBA (Federal University of Brazil at Bahia). Later on, in July of the same year, he moved to São Paulo, state capital of São Paulo, where he sang in a new talents TV Show called Programa do Bolinha and in Santana’s karaokes. Despite the fact that He also writes songs, sings, interprets and play songs both in English and Spanish, his forte is MPB (short for Brazilian pop music). His greatest national influences (besides Roberto Carlos) as well as international ones were Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Maria Bethânia, Djavan, Barão Vermelho, Titãs, Rita Lee, RPM, Legião Urbana, Zé Ramalho, Guilherme Arantes, Julio Iglesias, Mercedes Sosa, Glória Estefan, Célia Cruz, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Beatles, amongst other equally good singers and interpreters spread all over the world. Therefore, his work is eclectic by nature. Augusto Pitta, who holds dual citizenship (Brazil and USA), spent 14 years in the United States, where He came in touch with different rhythms and musicians from all over the place. Between Brazil and the States, in the American northeast, in the City of Buffalo, io the State of New York, where he first arrived back in October of 1986, he studied languages at the State University of New York at Buffalo (thus the poetry of his lyrics) and studied music at the Community Music School (singing and acoustic guitar). While in Buffalo, Augusto Pitta, performed every year and for many years in a row at the Latin American Annual Cultural Show at the University of Buffalo, representing his fatherland Brazil with songs by Chiclete com Banana, Moraes Moreira, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, etc. Later on, He was invited into the UB radio station for na interview wherein He spoke about Brazilian pop music and sang some songs live. Still in Buffalo, NY, where he lived for 8 consecutive years, he was backing vocal in the band Música Latina with whom he sang sambas, salsas and merengues. In 1991, He moved to the American southeast and lived in the City of Pompano Beach, in the State of Florida, during one year. In Pompano Beach , He met many Latin musicians including Brazilians and Caribbean ones. Occasionally, he would perform in the restaurant Brasil Tropical as well as in other clubs in Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Some time later, He decided it was about time He got to know the American Southwest and wound up moving to the City of Tucson, in the State of Arizona, in 1995, upon the invitation of friends, and stayed there for three years. In Tucson, He also came to know other great Brazilian musicians, as well as Americans, Mexicans, etc., from whom he learned a lot. Then, the time came for him to play with them (informally though). However, at the Sweet Water Cafe He had the opportunity to do a special performance with the band Sounds of Brazil, upon the invitation of the Brazilian percussionist from Porto Seguro (Bahia) called Paulo Torres, who was the band leader. Augusto Pitta returned to his Brazilian home (specifically to the City of Salvador, Bahia) in September of 1997 and cut an independent CD in the middle 1998 called Flor Mulher with 13 songs all written by him. Later on, he was interviewed live at by the TV host Pastore on a TV Show called TV Revista from TVE (Brazilian public television) here in Salvador, shortly before recording his first CD and then again right after he had finished recording it. He then o took one year of private singing lessons from an instructor called Neto Costa (Netinho) and then six more months at the Schubert Conservatorium. He also took another year of private acoustic guitar lessons from an instructor called Stanley Medeiros. Other than that, He has been performing live at FM radio stations, i.e. FM Jacobina, Barra FM (in the State of Bahia) and AM, e.g. Rádio Rio do Ouro (in the City of Jacobina, also n Bahia), Teatro ACBEU, Twist Pub, etc. In addition, in June of 2005, he returns to the US, as a visiting lecture at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese of Tulane University, in New Orleans, where he is introduced to some jazz and blues musicians at the French Quarter, through friends like Chris Dunn and Alex Barros, and even does a little informal singing in some clubs there; but, unfortunately, he gets dramatically displaced from his home in New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina. Augusto Pitta, then, runs away from the hurricane and stays temporarily in a hotel in Houston, Texas, from where He heads out to Las Cruces, New México, and remains there for a few months and ends up meeting some Mexican and American musicians at the Department of Music of New Mexico State University (NMSU). Later on, upon the invitation of UTEP, the University of Texas in El Paso, He moves to the City of El Paso, Texas, right at the Mexican border, where he does some teaching and winds up getting involved with other Mexican and American musicians, and doing some informal singing in the Texas scenario. In June of 2006, He flies to Newark, New Jersey, in order to participate in the 1st MPB USA Festival, where He meets Roberto Trevisan and Cacá Santos, producers and organizers of the event, as well as various Brazilian musicians who live and work in the States. In July of 2006, he finally moves to New York City and stays there until returning to Brazil in January of 2007, when He starts getting involved with the local music community again and meets Raul Carlos Gomes and Jorge Brasil (drummers) and Ricardo Marques (guitarist). Ever since then, He has been developing some interesting musical partnerships with Moisés Gabrielli (music director, base player, guitarist, singer and songwriter), and his team made up of Cristiano Paganucci (Production Assistant), Antonio Augusto Jr. (Sound Engineer) and Lula Carvalho (base player and songwriter).

Porém, foi no Sweet Water Cafe que teve a oportunidade de fazer uma participação especial com a Banda Sounds of Brazil, a convite do brasileiro de Porto Seguro, Paulo Torres, que era percussionista e líder da banda. Augusto Pitta voltou ao seu lar tupiniquim (maneira como se refere ao Brasil), especificamente a Salvador, Bahia, em setembro de 1997 e lançou em meados de 1998 o CD independente Flor Mulher com 13 canções de sua autoria. Foi entrevistado ao vivo pelo apresentador Pastore no Programa TV Revista da TVE aqui em Salvador, pouco antes da gravação do CD e logo após tê-lo gravado também. De lá pra cá, fez um ano de aula de canto com o Professor Neto Costa (Netinho) e mais seis meses de canto e bateria no Conservatório Schubert. Fez também um ano de aula de violão com o Professor Stanley Medeiros. No mais, tem se apresentado em algumas estações de rádio FM, i.e. FM Jacobina, Barra FM (na Cidade de Barra) e AM, e.g. Rádio Rio do Ouro (em Jacobina), Teatro do ACBEU, Twist Pub, etc. Em junho de 2005, retorna aos EUA, como professor convidado do Departamento de Espanhol e Português da Tulane University em Nova Orleans , Lousiana, onde acaba conhecendo alguns músicos de jazz e blues no French Quarter, através de amigos como Chris Dunn e Alex Barros, chega a dar algumas canjas por lá, mas, infelizmente, é dramaticamente “convidado” a se retirar de New Orleans, com a chegada do Furacão Katrina. Augusto Pitta, então, foge do furacão e fica temporariamente em Houston, Texas, de onde parte para Las Cruces, no Novo México. Ficou aí alguns meses e conheceu músicos mexicanos e americanos no Departamento de Música da New Mexico State University. Mais tarde, a convite da UTEP, University of Texas in El Paso, muda-se para a cidade de El Paso, Texas, na fronteira com o México, onde leciona por um semestre e acaba conhecendo e se envolvendo com outros músicos mexicanos e americanos, chegando a tocar informalmente na noite texana. Em junho de 2006, vai a Newark, Nova Jersey, participar do 1º Festival MPB USA, onde conheceu Roberto Trevisan e Cacá Santos, produtor e organizador do evento, e vários músicos brasileiros que vivem e trabalham nos EUA. Em julho de 2006, muda-se finalmente para New York City e permanece aí até retornar a Salvador em janeiro de 2007, quando, em junho recebe um convite para trabalhar na Cidade do Saber em Camaçari e inicia uma sólida amizade musical com Raul Carlos Gomes e Jorge Brasil (bateristas) e Ricardo Marques (cordas). A partir daí, vem desenvolvendo boas parcerias musicais também com Moisés Gabrielli (diretor musical, baixista, violonista, cantor e compositor), e sua equipe formada por Cristiano Paganucci (Diretor de Produção), Antonio Augusto Jr. (Técnico de Áudio) e Lula Carvalho (baixista e compositor).

Andaba yo por la carretera de la vida tiempo atrás y un día vi un letrero que decía, La tienda del cielo. Cuando me aproximé la puerta se abrió y cuando me di cuenta ya había entrado. Vi grupos de ángeles por todos lados, uno me dio una cesta y dijo, Hijo mío, compra todo lo que quieras, en la tienda hay todo lo que un cristiano necesita. Y lo que no puedas cargar hoy puedes volver mañana y llevarlo sin problemas. Lo primero que agarré fue paciencia y luego amor, estaban en el mismo estante. Más adelante estaba la comprensión y también la compré, iba a necesitarla donde quiera que fuera. Compré además, dos cajas de sabiduría y dos bolsas de fe, no pude dejar de lado al Espíritu Santo pues estaba en todo el lugar. Me detuve un poco para comprar fuerza y coraje pues me ayudarían mucho en esta carrera de la vida. Cuando ya tenía casi llena la cesta, recordé que me hacía falta un poco de gracia, bendición, y que no debía olvidarme de la salvación, esta la ofrecían en una promoción especial! Entonces tomé una buena porción lo suficiente para salvarme y para salvarte! Caminé hacia el cajero para pagar la cuenta, ya tenía todo para hacer la voluntad del Maestro, cuando iba llegando a la caja vi la oración y la agregué a mi cesta ya repleta, sabía que cuando saliera iba a ponerla en práctica. La paz y la felicidad estaban en unos estantes pequeños, aproveché para cargarlas, la alegría colgaba del techo y agarré un pequeño paquete para mí. Llegue al cajero y le pregunté ¿Cuanto debo? El sonrió y me contestó, lleva tu cesta donde quiera que vayas, una vez más sonreí y le pregunte ¿Cuanto realmente le debo? El sonrió otra ves y dijo, hijo mío no te preocupes, Jesús pagó la cuenta hace mucho,mucho tiempo atrás.
