Julia Bykova is the lead singer and the heart of the Aura. A Scorpio, she is the one who creates the mystery and ignites the musical passion burning underneath the veil of cool and “cloudy” Belarusian melodies.
She was born into a family of a Russian Army officer in Minsk (BSSR, part of former Soviet Union). From the very first days the happy parents feel that Julia is a child prodigy. She starts to speak intelligibly before she can really walk — when only eight months old, while the two-year-old Julia can already read. When Julia is four, all the neighbours get amazed at seeing the little girl sitting on the courtyard’s bench reading A Story About a Real Man by Boris Polevoi — a serous book about the World War II.
In her early years her family moves to Russia as the Soviet Army transfers her father to Khabarovsk. Getting accustomed to the new time zone she faces sleeping problems and often amuses herself by singing overnight improvising her own melodies coupled with remarkable lyrics. This pastime of hers was not really appreciated by the “sleepless” and a bit disturbed neighbours, however, this only provoked the young and naughty singer. Thus, Julia starts singing and writing lyrics and never stops ever after.
Getting back to her birthplace — Belarus, which then becomes an independent country — Julia starts “singing her way to the stars” and joins the Starlet, a folk band. At their first rehearsal the choirmaster enchanted by Julia’s incredibly heartfelt and beautiful singing says: “It feels like the Starlet will be turning into a Star pretty soon”. Subsequently the band starts touring round Europe giving concerts in France, Turkey, Holland, Germany and other countries. All concerts are a great success, but the young star soon feels very disillusioned by hypocrisy, gossips and treachery that burst into her life together with fame and success.
In 1995 Julia makes a U-turn in her life. She gives up the band and enters Minsk State Medical University to become a cardiologist. Saving people’s lives becomes her creed. After a while, however, she realizes that there is another way to touch and heal people’s hearts rather than by doing her cardiologist’s job. Thus, despite the hurts and bruises of the past, and after lots of meditation, she gets back to singing again.
From year 1997 till 2000, invited by several comedy theatres (KVN teams) in Moscow, Julia devotes all of her singer’s talent to the theatre and is happy to witness the success of her companies. However, never afraid of changes and never looking back at her previous achievements, she gives up her theatrical career and leaves Europe for the Middle East; namely, for the Kingdom of Bahrain. There she starts all anew just with the help of her talent, her beautiful voice and her undisputable charisma — in no time she is a hit again.
When in Bahrain she meets her love and future husband Eugene Oleinik — a young but already famous Belarusian composer — whom she chooses among all her numerous admirers — sheikhs, princes, rich and prosperous businessmen — and accepts his proposal. They return to Belarus and get married. Although neither Julia nor Eugene knows it yet, this becomes the making of a future creative tandem that will compose many beautiful and famous songs.
Back in Belarus the happy and talented young couple writes numerous hits for European pop stars among which are songs, conquering the hearts of thousands at such festivals as Eurovision and Slavianski Bazar. Julia writes marvellous lyrics and Eugene composes high quality and truly heartfelt music. For almost all their songs become 100 percent hits, their success is booming bringing them fame with more and more pop and rock stars wanting the duet to compose a song for them.
However, despite the success, Eugene and Julia’s disappointment is growing inasmuch as pop singers and rock stars, who they write their songs for, are quite often unable to realize the tandem’s exquisite creative ideas. When this simmering “feeling of their art being crucified” reaches its peak Eugene and Julia decide to create their own project that will really bring their art to life making Julia’s old dream of heart-healing music come true. Thus, the Aura is born.

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. I spent the summer writing and translating songs for my upcoming CD. I'm so excited I can't wait till February when my first single comes out. I would also like to bring back some classic standards and for that I need your help. I need all of my friends to send me a list of songs, standards or romantic pop that you would like to see come back. Hopefully, songs that have not been recorded in the past 10 years. I will than pick the top 10 from your submissions and have you vote again. I can't think of a better way of extending our friendship than to share part of the process of creation with my new friends. I am looking forward to your participation.
