It's kind of strange...people sign on to these .. communities to socialise with friends they already have, make new friends they might never meet, and possibly search for love or a good (or lousy) fuck. During this process they waste energy typing in miscellaneous factoids about themselves, perhaps trying to peak others interest....who knows....and give out sometimes personal information in digital code. Whatever happened to getting to know someone outside of this artifiicial arena? Maybe I should be putting this in a journal entry...but that's another rant in itself. Well, it's time for me to go create my digi personality...whee!
well...i love: dancing, designing, and decadence. i'm also a dork in disguise. books......me like books. i enjoy doing burlesque shows with Shameless Burlesque (add us as a friend!), an awesome group of grrls, as well as working at a variety of nightclubs, playing original Nintendo on occasion, wearing and making gorgeous tight corsets, laughing 'till you're crying, and food (cooking and eating, especially Sushi and Thai). i'm also the proud mother of a 7 yr old little girl named Suki (see above). she passed away 01/29/09 from renal cell carcinoma but she will always be in my heart. the newest addition to my family is the spunky Roxy...a Pomerinha (part Pomeranian park Piranha). i found her roaming downtown covered in fleas, too many teeth for her little mouth, no tags or collar, and sores on her backside. she's gorgeous now though! i can't stress enough the importance of rescuing/adopting a dog. please don't fund puppymills or breeders when there's so many dogs out there needing homes!
Now...as if having society labeling everyone isn't enough, there are now quizzes. Stop the insanity! Eh...fuck it..I'm doing it. QUIZ TIME!
This is what happens when you're in a computer lab waiting for your class to start.

Television
"If you die horribly on television, you will not have died in vain. You will have entertained us." ~ K. Vonnegut Jr
I like the animal planet, some political shows (Daily Show and Bill Maher), how i met your mother, and a few other jems...but for the most part i'm a "KILL YR TELEVISION" advocate. My boy and I don't have cable...we don't even have an antenna. We mainly watch internet shows these days or what we get from netflix.
Books
I'm an avid reader....I devour books but I relish them as one would a six course meal....slowly savouring every last morsel. I'm not the fastest book reader...I like to enjoy them and read a page here there but there are some books that refuse to be put down. I'll generally read almost anything by Cynthia Heimel, Michael Moore, David Sedaris, Chuck Palahniuk, Nick Hornby, and Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (R.I.P.) Some of my faves over the years have been: A Long Way Down - Nick Hornby, Dead Babies - Martin Amis, Candide - Voltaire, 7 Tattoos - Peter Trachtenberg, Fight Club & Choke - Chuck Palahniuk, The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons - Dan Brown, , Brave New World - Aldous Huxley, Venus In Furs - Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch, Naked - David Sedaris, Stupid White Men - Michael Moore...I think there are too many to mention.
(06/09/08) Wow I haven't updated this list in ages. I've finished a bunch of books since last time. Some were average...others excellent. Here's a few on the list: James Fry - A Million Litle Pieces (A supposed memoir that turned out to be a giant lie. Whether you agree or not by his method of promoting his work this novel stood out strong as a work of fiction and that's how I read it. It was vibrant in description and so visual it was almost painful at times. I had a hard time putting it down; Chuck Palahniuk - Invisible Monsters & Diary; Dan Brown - Deception Point. I'm currently in the middle of Olivia Joules by Helen Fielding which is an action packed girlie romp. I'm loving it! I'll probably finish it this afternoon as I'm not feeling well. I've also been reading Rant by Palahniuk which I've cooled a bit on lately. I'm anxiously awaiting to read Sedaris's newest book - When You Are Engulfed in Flames....as he's yet to disappoint me. That's all for now!
(10/01/07) I've finished a few books recently but have been lingering on a couple that I'm going to try and complete soon: Martin Amis - Success, Jonathen Franzen - The Corrections, and Sedaris - Barrel Fever. I still have a stack of books I haven't even started on!
(4/27/07) I just finished reading The Firm by John Grisham. I had never seen the movie nor read any Grisham books before but this book had been lying around in my collection for years gathering dust. A worthy and suspenseful read..I definitely recommend it...but don't look for it to change your life. Now I just need to rent the film version. Now I'm currently reading Memoirs of a Geisha. My obsession for sushi, sake and everything else Japanese has found it's way into novels. I'm really enjoying it so far.
I recently finished a whole bunch of books and will update them later. I've been trying to keep a promise to myself..I will finish all unread books in my collection before investing in new ones! We'll see how well that goes. (Update 06/09/08)..It's not going very well. I keep buying more books. I've been trolling Goodwill lately for good reads and have found some real jems. Also amazon is my other favourite book shop for my second hand literary fix since my local used book store closed down.
(11/01/06) I just finished reading John Grogan's Marley & Me. It was absolutely beautiful! Marley reminded me so much of my old dog Zippy. It's been a while since I've laughed so hard while reading a book....and then cried so much. The last few chapters really took me to a sad, necessary, and familiar place that every loving dog owner experiences at least once. If you hold a special home in your heart for a cold wet nose, this is the book for you.

Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,— For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
Do you know the relationship between your two eyes? They blink together, they move together, they cry together, they see things together and they sleep together BUT THEY NEVER SEE EACH OTHER... that's what friendship is. Your aspiration is your motivation, your motivation is your belief, your belief is your peace, your peace is your target, your target is heaven, and life is like hell without FRIENDS.
