The goal of any artist is for their art to pay the bills, put food on the table and support their lifestyle. Because if their art does not do that then they have to get a 9 to 5 and we all know; nothing drains someone's creativity like a 9 to 5. It's hard to get motivated when you've been crunching numbers all day or writing code for someone else's website.
So to all the supporters of AGM (Austin Goes Mafia), the project is not dead, it is still alive and I've got ideas running all through my head. However, it does not pay the bills and support the lifestyle I've grown accustomed to (which is not much... food, water, shelter, that's about it). So when projects do come my way like shooting commercial photography work for Dell, and it's a project that pays then I'm going to put my personal projects on hold.
I do apologize for everyone having to wait. It kills me that I can't find the time to devote to the Austin Goes Mafia Project, rest assured I will. Stephanie, has been SOO GREAT! She has handled all of the communications between all the participants and new volunteers since the project began and now I know I'm putting a strain on her and her good relationships she has managed to forge with so many talented models, make-up artists and hair stylists...Don't blame her the responsibility lies on my shoulders. I'm not paying her, she's doing it simply for the love of the friendships she's made and for the AGM project. She is more than a messenger she's a large part of the AGM foundation so, be nice to her.
If you have issues or you are upset with the timing and the lag of not receiving your images send the hate mail to me and I'll just copy and paste this message that you have just read and apologize for your wait. She is one of the people who keep pushing me to find the time to work on the project, so she's in your corner, I'm just the dose of cold-stone reality that has to work itself out.
In the current State of Affairs...There are a couple of ways to get your images back sooner than later...
One: Is the obvious, pay.(yes, unfortunately, it makes me cringe to write that)
Two: Money is not everything, job leads are just as good as money. If you are someone with connections to bigger and better Photography Jobs that will help pay the bills and get me back on my personal projects, you're images may get taken care of sooner than later, as well.
There is a business side to art as well it's not all creative.
My final message: If you are like me and money is not an abundant resource and your connections aren't so great and there's no real exchange that can be made, then I have to say hang tight I'll get to you....in time, but I will get to you. We are looking at a 2 to 3 month wait with my current workload.
Thanks so much for all the support, all the great comments, and above all your PATIENCE! Austin Goes Mafia
Eric Wilson
